Cine Gear 2026

Our team visited the SmallHD booth at Cine Gear Expo Los Angeles, where we had the chance to look at the SmallRig OLED 16, a 4K OLED production monitor that had just gone on sale globally. It has an excellent size of 16 inches, yet boasts reference-grade performance. In person, our team was impressed by the deep and rich black levels, which are among the best in the company’s previous products.

Previously, the lineup mainly consisted of large monitors such as 22-inch, 24-inch, and 32-inch models, but this model is a smaller version that maintains the same quality. It maintains the precision of large monitors while improving portability and ease of use in the field. The SmallHD OLED 16 is also designed to be suitable for use in limited spaces such as DIT carts and video villages. Accurate color evaluation and consistent video management across multiple monitors are achieved in a 16-inch chassis.

What Makes the SmallHD OLED 16 Special?
This monitor represents an evolution that accurately captures the needs of the filming set. Pay attention to the fact that the master monitor-level image quality seen on set is condensed into this size. It has stable color reproduction performance and is highly reliable in production settings. This is a long-awaited size that was not in the lineup until now, and they explained that it will be showcased at domestic events after this exhibition.
Furthermore, the booth also showcased a product called “Bolt Mobile,” which is still in the prototype stage. This is a receiver compatible with the Bolt 6 series and Ace 750 series, allowing users to view video on an iPad. What’s noteworthy is its extremely low latency. Bolt-quality video, which previously required a dedicated monitor, can now be sent to an iPad and shared in real time.

Camera operators and DITs can meticulously check the footage via SDI connection, while clients can easily check it on their iPads, allowing for flexible use depending on their role. Simultaneous transmission to up to six receivers further enhances operational efficiency on site. The company announced that shipments of this product are expected to begin in September. SmallHD’s product lineup is evolving towards being more practical and accessible. We look forward to future developments.
