The Fujinon Lens XF400mmF4.5 R LM OIS WR releases as part of its “XF Lens” lineup of interchangeable lenses for the “X Series” mirrorless digital cameras, which achieve outstanding image quality through its unique color reproduction technology and a compact, lightweight design.

The “Fujinon XF400mmF4.5 R LM OIS WR” is a super-telephoto prime lens with the highest optical performance in the “XF lens” series, achieving a bright F4.5 aperture at a focal length of 400mm (equivalent to 609mm in 35mm format). Despite its super-telephoto capabilities, it weighs approximately 1,245g, and furthermore, improved image stabilization accuracy and an optimized mechanism design enable a powerful 5.5-stop image stabilization system. This supports stable shooting even in subjects and scenes that require fast shutter speeds, such as wild birds, motorsports, and aircraft.
The “XF400mmF4.5 R LM OIS WR” lens can have its focal length further extended when combined with a teleconverter. With the “Fujinon Teleconverter XF1.4X TC WR,” it’s possible to shoot at a maximum focal length equivalent to 560mm (853mm in 35mm format), and with the “Fujinon Teleconverter XF2X TC WR,” it’s possible to shoot at a maximum focal length equivalent to 800mm (1,219mm in 35mm format).
By adding the “XF400mmF4.5 R LM OIS WR” to the lineup, the “XF lens” series now completes its range of large-aperture super-telephoto prime lenses, covering approximately 300mm to 762mm equivalent in 35mm format. Through a thorough lightweight design achieved by reducing the lens diameter, shortening the overall length, and thinning the lens barrel, as well as utilizing the characteristics of the APS-C format which provides an image magnified by 1.5 times in 35mm equivalent, this lens achieves super-telephoto performance equivalent to 609mm in 35mm equivalent in a small and lightweight body weighing approximately 1,245g. It also boasts excellent mobility for long shooting sessions and portability.
Despite being a super-telephoto lens, which tends to have a heavy front element, the optimal lens placement optimizes the center of gravity balance. This results in excellent handling and reduces strain during long periods of handheld shooting.
The lens barrel features 20 sealing points, resulting in a dustproof, splashproof, and -10°C low-temperature resistant structure. Furthermore, the front lens element coating is fluorine, providing water-repellent and stain-resistant properties. A “Focus Control Button” is located at the front of the lens barrel. This allows for instant recall of the functions assigned to the “Focus Select Switch” (AF-L/PRESET/AF), enabling smooth AF operation.
The Fujinon XF400mmF4.5 R LM OIS WR comes equpped with a focus limiter, that restricts the lens’s drive range during focusing . By shortening the lens’s drive time when shooting subjects more than 5m away, it enables high-speed autofocus.
