OM Digital Solutions Corporation’s imaging product brand “OM SYSTEM” announced the release of the “OM SYSTEM PEN,” the first mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera to bear the “PEN” name under the “OM SYSTEM” brand, in late October 2026.
Since the first “Olympus PEN” film camera debuted in 1959, the “PEN” series developed as a camera characterized by its small size and light weight, and has been popular for a wide range of uses, from serious photography to everyday snapshots.
The “OM SYSTEM PEN” inherits the philosophy of the PEN series while incorporating an electronic viewfinder into a rangefinder-style design. It is the first camera in the “PEN” series to be dustproof and splashproof, and is a Micro Four Thirds standard compliant mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera equipped with OM SYSTEM’s unique photographic expression functions.
This model is designed to appeal to a wide range of users, from those who want to start photography as a hobby to photography enthusiasts, allowing them to enjoy the diverse photographic expressions unique to interchangeable-lens cameras.
OM SYSTEM PEN Main Features
- Features electronic viewfinder and rangefinder-style design that is dustproof and splashproof.
- “Color/Monochrome Profile Control” reproduces film-like colors and expressions.
- Computational photography shooting function that allows for the compositing of multiple images within the camera.
Let’s Go Over Some More Details of the OM SYSTEM PEN
Electronic viewfinder and a dustproof and splashproof design.
The “OM SYSTEM PEN” is the first camera in the “OM SYSTEM” series to bear the “PEN” name. It adopts a rangefinder style and combines classical elements with a modern design. While the overall design is based on straight lines, it incorporates curves that fit comfortably in the hand, achieving both portability and ease of handling.

The OM SYSTEM PEN features an electronic viewfinder, allowing you to check and adjust settings such as aperture and shutter speed while looking through the viewfinder.
Furthermore, this is the first camera in the “PEN” series to feature dust and splash resistance. Sealing materials are placed throughout the camera body, and when a dust and splash-proof lens is attached, it adopts a design that takes dust and splash resistance into consideration, with a protection rating of IPX1. However, the dust and splash resistance does not apply while charging or when connected via HDMI.
It features the “TruePic IX” image processing engine and a Live MOS sensor with approximately 20.37 million effective pixels. Furthermore, it has a 5-axis in-body image stabilization mechanism compatible with all attachable Micro Four Thirds lenses, providing a maximum correction effect of 5.5 stops in the center and 4.5 stops at the edges.

“Color/Monochrome Profile Control” reproduces film-like colors and expressions.
Just like choosing your favorite color or black and white film, you can select a preset and start shooting. You can adjust the color and texture of your photos, whether it’s to create a nostalgic streetscape, a soft and gentle atmosphere, or to enjoy monochrome photography.
Furthermore, based on presets, you can adjust the image while checking the final result in the viewfinder during shooting. A “profile control switch” is located on the front of the camera body, allowing access to this function while holding the camera.
Additionally, profile control applies to video recording (excluding S&Q).
Color Profile Control
When shooting in color, the saturation of each of the 12 divided colors adjusts in 11 steps. Users also combine this with highlight and shadow control and shading effects.
There are four presets available: “Film Rich Color,” which has a subdued and rich color tone; “Film Vivid,” which has high saturation and rich color reproduction; “Film Soft Tone,” which has a soft and gentle color tone; and the standard “Standard (Natural).”

Monochrome Profile Control
In monochrome photography, you can combine and set five effects: color filter effect, highlight & shadow control, shading effect, grainy film effect, and toning.
The presets include four types: “Film B&W,” which utilizes a grainy effect; “Film IR,” which emphasizes the red color filter effect to create an infrared film-like look; “Film Low Contrast,” which reduces contrast; and the standard “Standard (Monotone).”

“Computational Photography” shooting function
It features “computational photography” shooting functions that perform processing within the camera that was previously done on a PC, such as combining multiple images. It supports features such as Live ND shooting, which smoothly renders flowing water, and depth stacking shooting, which widens the depth of field by combining multiple images.
It features a “Computational Photography button” to access various computational photography shooting functions.
Hold the CP button and rotating the control dial, and switch between the following shooting functions.
- Tripod High-Res Shot
- Handheld high-resolution shots
- Live ND shooting (ND2-16)
- Depth stacking
- HDR shooting (HDR1, 2)
- Multiple exposure photography
