Yamaha Corporation plan to debut professional audio equipment in November 2026, including the “DM5” and “DM5 Compact” digital mixing consoles from the “DM5 series,” and the “RUio1608SB-D,” “RUio0804-D,” and “RUio16FLX-D” I/O racks from the “R series Utility I/O.”
The “Yamaha DM5 series” is a digital mixing console that condenses the natural, transparent sound, workflow, operability, and expandability of the “DM7 series,” released in 2023, into a compact chassis. Positioned between the “DM7 series” and the “DM3 series,” the lightest and most compact in the lineup, this new product offers a new option to suit various applications and system sizes.
The lineup includes the “DM5” and “DM5 Compact.” The “DM5” features two fader bays and two 13.3-inch multi-touch screens, and supports signal processing for up to 60 input channels with 32 analog inputs and 16 analog outputs.
Yamaha DM5 Compact
The Yamaha DM5 Compact features one fader bay and one 13.3-inch multi-touchscreen, and supports signal processing for up to 48 input channels with 16 analog inputs and 16 analog outputs.
Both models support Dante network audio with up to 64 inputs/64 outputs at 96kHz. The “DM5 Compact” adopts a compact design that maintains the same height and depth as the “DM5” but reduces the width to 446mm, making it suitable for locations with limited installation space or applications where portability is required.
Furthermore, it features a 13.3-inch multi-touch screen positioned within easy reach and employs an intuitive user interface that allows users to switch between the “Selected Channel View” and “Overview” screens depending on their needs.
Furthermore, it supports bidirectional control and remote operation with external devices, enabling an efficient workflow from setup to production operation. In addition, it features functions to support a wide range of applications, including recording and playback, virtual sound check, expansion of I/O and signal processing functions via PY slots, and function expansion via “Broadcast Package” and “Theatre Package”.
The “R Series Utility I/O,” released simultaneously, is a Dante-compatible I/O rack that allows for flexible addition of inputs and outputs to suit various applications and scales. When combined with the “DM5 Series,” it enables the creation of an audio environment that meets current system requirements while also anticipating future expansion.
Yamaha DM5 Overview
- Inheriting the workflow of the “DM7 series,” it condenses superior sound quality and intuitive operation into a compact chassis.
- The 13.3-inch multi-touch screen with integrated glass keys enables quick and reliable operation.
- PY cards, expansion packages, and software enable flexible functionality expansion to suit various applications.
- The “R Series” I/O rack now includes a utility model, enabling system configurations tailored to scale and application.
Yamaha DM5 Main Features
Natural, transparent sound and comprehensive signal processing functions

The DM5 and DM5 Compact build upon the natural and transparent sound that has been a hallmark of the company’s professional audio products, incorporating extensive channel processing and high-quality effects. Each input channel features a 4-band PEQ (4 algorithms) with RTA overlay support and 8 dynamics options, while the 16-slot effects rack includes 43 different effects such as reverb, delay, and modulation.
Both models also feature 24 Mix buses, 12 Matrix, 2 Stereo buses, and 12 DCA outputs, as well as 18 channels of USB audio input/output, an RJ45 terminal for mixer control, and Bluetooth for audio playback.
New user interface featuring glass keys.
According to Yamaha, the 13.3-inch main multi-touch screen features glass keys that allow for tactile operation—a world first for a digital mixing console. The glass keys support dynamic labeling, where the displayed content changes according to the mixer’s status, allowing for quick access to more functions without complicating the panel.

13.3-inch multi-touch screen with glass keysFurthermore, it features a 4.3-inch customizable touchscreen that can be used as a user-defined key, and four user-defined knobs. The new “Dynamic Mode” automatically assigns parameters of related functions in conjunction with the target of the selected channel display. The main display supports four levels of angle adjustment, ensuring visibility according to the lighting of the installation environment and the operating posture, whether seated or standing.

PY card enables signal processing and I/O expansion.
Both models feature a PY card slot, allowing for expansion of signal processing capabilities and input/output by installing cards suited to the application. Installing the new “PY-DSP” adds up to 32 additional effect instances usable in “Premium Rack.” “PY-DSP” is also compatible with the “DM7 series,” expanding the number of instances in “Premium Rack Effect.”
- “PY64-D”: Dante interface card with built-in sampling rate converter (SRC)
- “PY64-MD”: Supports 64 channels of MADI input/output.
- “PY8-AE”: Supports 8 channels of AES/EBU input/output via a D-sub 25-pin connector.
- “PY-MIDI-GPI”: Adds MIDI/GPI control via DIN 5-pin and D-sub 15-pin connectors.
- “WSG-PY64”: An interface card manufactured by Waves Audio Ltd., compatible with Waves SoundGrid systems.
*The “PY64-D” and “PY64-MD” models are equipped with a sampling rate converter. The “PY8-AE” model is equipped with a sampling rate converter only on the input side.
Feature expansion packages
The “Broadcast Package” adds seven features required for broadcasting, such as Mix Minus and Audio Follow Video. The “Theatre Package” provides features that support the operation of musicals and theatrical productions, such as 4 Bank EQ/DYN and Actor Library.
The DM5 series comes standard with 12 channels of Dugan automatic mixer functionality. With an additional Dugan Automixer License, the DM5 Compact can be expanded to 48 channels and the DM5 to 60 channels, accommodating large-scale meetings and conferences. Licenses are activated via the PV Portal application, and a single license can be activated and deactivated across multiple compatible consoles.
Three “R Series Utility I/O” models
The “R Series Utility I/O” is a Dante-compatible I/O rack that can be used in combination with the “DM5 Series,” as well as the “DM7 Series,” “DM3 Series,” and “RIVAGE PM Series.” It offers a lineup of three models to choose from depending on the application, from adding inputs and outputs to small-scale systems to installation sound systems that require expandability.
- The RUio1608SB-D
is a compact stagebox-type I/O unit featuring 16 analog inputs, 8 analog outputs, and Dante Primary/Secondary ports. Designed for stage use, it includes rubber protectors and carrying bars for enhanced portability and ease of installation. An optional rackmount kit is also available.

- The RUio0804-D is a 1U-sized unit
that features eight analog inputs, four analog outputs, and Dante Primary/Secondary ports in a compact 1U chassis. It allows for the compact addition of necessary inputs and outputs, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, including live sound reinforcement, installed sound systems, and corporate events.

- The “RUio16FLX-D” allows for customizable input/output configurations.
Its 16 input/output channels can be flexibly configured in 2-channel increments to either analog microphone/line input, analog output, or AES/EBU output. It also supports Dante input/output, supporting flexible system construction to adapt to changing applications and system scales.

Software that supports common workflows
The Windows and Mac compatible “DM Editor” supports offline setup and editing, as well as online backup management. It can be used with both the “DM5 series” and “DM7 series,” and console files are compatible, allowing for smooth data exchange. In addition, “DM StageMix” and “MonitorMix” support remote operation from within the venue, and “ProVisionaire Control PLUS” provides a control environment that can be customized to suit the application.
*After the update, “DM7 StageMix” will be renamed to “DM StageMix”. “DM StageMix” is compatible with firmware V2.0 (released September 10th) and later for the “DM7 series”.
