KORG announced that its internet video streaming system, “Live Extreme,” now supports “HDR10+” and “Eclipse Audio” streaming.
Korg “Live Extreme,” announced in September 2020, is an internet video streaming system that embraces an “audio-first philosophy,” with an audio clock at the core of the streaming system. It features high-quality streaming that supports lossless/hi-res audio and has been used for streaming over 250 concerts and events to date.
Since 2023, live streaming features using 3D sound such as “AURO-3D” and “Dolby Atmos” have been added sequentially. Furthermore, by 2025, support for live streaming with the high-definition technology “4K HDR (High Dynamic Range)” will be added, improving streaming quality not only in terms of sound but also in terms of image quality.
With the cooperation of Samsung Japan Research Institute, Korg has updated the software for on-demand and simulated live streaming on Live Extreme, adding support for HDR10+ HDR video technology and Eclipse Audio, next-generation immersive audio technology.
Additionally, the “Live Extreme Experience for TV (v1.2)” playback app for set-top boxes supports HDR10+ playback and Eclipse Audio’s up to 7.1ch rendering playback.
HDR10+ is an open, royalty-free HDR video technology developed primarily by Samsung, Panasonic, and 20th Century Fox, which extends HDR10. It optimizes the brightness and gradation of images to match compatible displays by using dynamic metadata that changes with each scene and frame. Currently, it is becoming increasingly common in a wide range of products, including televisions, smartphones, monitors, and video equipment.
Eclipse Audio is a next-generation immersive audio technology jointly developed by Google and Samsung, based on the open and royalty-free “IAMF (Immersive Audio Model and Formats)”. Since 2025, YouTube has supported the posting and distribution of content including Eclipse Audio tracks, expanding playback environments on compatible TVs and other devices.
Furthermore, Google Chrome 153 and later versions support Eclipse Audio playback, making it increasingly possible to use it on web browsers.
Through these formats, Live Extreme expands the options for streaming that combine high-definition video with immersive audio. This adds video capabilities and support for next-generation audio formats to Live Extreme, which has always prioritized sound quality.
