But wait, there’s more! When comparing the S5iiX to its counterpart, the S5ii, you’ll find some exciting additions. With the S5iiX, you get the ability to record 5.8K Apple ProRes directly to SSD via HDMI or USB, as well as support for ALL-Intra recording. External recording options include 5.8K Apple ProRes and 5.9K BRaw. And guess what? The S5iiX even supports SSD recording via USB-C. What about ergonomy?
In terms of ergonomics, I do appreciate the controls of the S5iiX, with the PASM dial being easily accessible, back and front dial on the right of the camera with the very good grip to make it comfortable to use, the focus mode switch and subject detection selection button and overall the buttons that work very well. I would say though that the back and front dials are a little loose to me, and it happened to me several time to change my settings by accident by hitting it. I would have appreciated tighter dials.
LCD and Viewfinder of the Lumix S5iiX
Let’s talk about the screen and viewfinder. The S5iiX sports a 3-inch 1,840,000 dots flip-out touch screen. It’s solid and has a robust connection compared to other cameras in its class. However, in bright conditions, it might be a bit challenging to see some details on the screen.
