Inter BEE 2024 Booth Review
IRIX Lenses came out to Inter BEE 2024, and at their booth, they showcased their whole lineup of their lenses.
IRIX produces DSLR lenses, mirrorless camera lenses, and cinematic lenses. Their design team is in Switzerland, production in Korea, and business and sales comes from Poland. A truly global company with high standards.
Their full-frame cinematic lenses come in the following focal lengths: 11, 15, 21, 30, 45, 65, and 150mm.
The 150mm lens originally was a macro lens, with very finite focusing to get the most accurate macro shots. However, the demand for the telephoto lens with normal telephoto focusing was great. They debuted this lens in 2022, and has been very popular since.
IRIX Lenses available for popular mounts
IRIX Lenses are available for Canon RF, Canon EF, Fuji X, Sony E, Nikon Z, Leica L, Olympus / Panasonic MFT, and Arri PL-mounts.
Similarities amongst the lenses
All lenses fall within 10% of each other in terms of their weight. Additionally, the alignment of the control rings for focusing and for aperture is the exact same. These features allow IRIX lenses to be utilized on gimbals, quick-change situations in the field, minimizing prep time. Focus pullers do not need to readjust the positioning at all. The different focal lengths are also within similar size specs, some might be longer than others. The 11mm and 21mm have different front ends to the lenses.
Magnetic Mounting System and Filters
Additionally at Inter BEE 2024, IRIX Lenses showcased the EDGE filters, which magnetically attach to the front of the lenses. Due to the construction of the 11mm and 21mm lens, these filters aren’t available, however, each of the other lenses use the same filter diameter. A diameter of 95mm outside and 86mm inside allows for IRIX filters to be utilized easily and without needing varying diameter filters.
We look forward to working with IRIX in the future on testing out some of their lenses!
