Irix announces new version of cine lens "Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 TELE"

The Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1 is a micro-only lens that hit the market in 2019 and features a focus ring that is primarily adjusted to shoot closer to the subject. The lens can also focus on more distant surfaces, but due to its peculiarity, the range of movement of the ring is considerably reduced. Therefore, it is said that the company had a request to create a version that can be comfortably operated at a longer distance from the shooting target. Iris, which values the voices of users, has developed the second version of the 150mm T3.0 lens with “TELE.”

Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 TELE

The optical and mechanical structure is similar to the Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 Macro 1:1, but there are the following differences.

  • It is possible to move the focus ring more precisely in the range from 2m to infinity. The movable range of the ring remains unchanged at 270°
  • Aperture value of lens changed, max value is now 22 in TELE version

The 150mm focal length and 11-element circular diaphragm combine to produce beautiful bokeh and beautiful background images. A bright aperture value makes it easy to separate the subject from the background. The optical construction creates a unique, cinematic Irix look with soft tones and characteristic brilliance while maintaining sharpness.

Quality

8K compatible, optical 12-element configuration, internal focusing, 11-blade aperture to provide image quality, bokeh, performance, and the lowest possible focus breathing.

Interchangeability

Compatible with typical sizes and systems used in cinematography, such as 95mm matte box diameter, 86mm front filter thread and 0.8 gear pitch.

For added stability when shooting, the lens can be additionally secured to cages with a standard 1/4″ mount screw lens foot (included in the kit). All Irix lenses have gears of the same height for greater comfort, as well as weight and dimensions.

Functionality

The Irix Cine 150mm T3.0 TELE incorporates many of the company’s solutions and ideas. Equipped with a magnetic mount system on the front of the lens, you can easily attach additional accessories, such as Irix MMS filters, and optional lens hoods.

The adaptive ring for the follow focus system maximizes the functionality of the follow focus system and improves the usability of the lens when the follow focus is not used.

Respond to action

Equipped with weather seals (5 rubber rings, 4 PL mounts) to reduce weight. The lens is made of magnesium alloy and weighs only 1105g (Canon EF version) despite its durable metal construction. It is a well-balanced lens for use with medium-sized video cameras and single-lens reflex cameras/mirrorless cameras.
