Cosina Voigtlander announced the release of new VM-mount products, the NOKTON 35mm F1.2 Aspherical IV, NOKTON 50mm F1.2 Aspherical II, LH-14, and LH-15, on May 23, 2025.
The release date of the “NOKTON 40mm F1.2 Aspherical II,” unveiled during the original announcement in April, will be announced at a later date.
NOKTON is a title given to Voigtlander lenses with a maximum aperture of F1.5 or less. When the first NOKTON was released in the 1950s, it was positioned as a lens that made it possible to take photographs even in low-light conditions. In contrast, the advantage of a large aperture lens in today’s world, where image sensors have become increasingly sensitive, is that it allows you to take advantage of the large bokeh that can be achieved by opening the aperture.
The new Voigtlander NOKTON lenses boasts a large aperture of F1.2, resulting in a large bokeh, and is compact and easy to handle.
The main changes are that the filter attachment part at the tip of the lens has been finished in black instead of silver, giving the lens a more compact design, and that the weight has been reduced by revising the structure (35mm F1.2: 332g → 300g, 40mm F1.2: 315g → 267g, 50mm F1.2: 347g → 322g).
The shape of the bayonet for attaching the hood at the tip of the lens has also been changed, making it easier to determine the slit position for the newly designed dedicated hood (sold separately) and allowing it to be attached in reverse when stored. The LH-14, which has a shortened hood length, is compatible with three lenses: 35mm, 40mm, and 50mm. The LH-15, which has a longer vintage style, is compatible with 40mm and 50mm.
