Blackmagic Design announced at NAB Show 2026 the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive 100G, a digital film camera designed for immersive live production. This product is the world’s first immersive cinema camera developed for live production using Apple Immersive Video.
Sales begin around Q3 of 2026, and the encoder will have a separate release date announced in due course.
The URSA Cine Immersive 100G features dual 8Kx8K RGBW sensors with a 16-stop dynamic range. The use of 100G Ethernet ensures the necessary bandwidth for outputting live immersive video.
In addition, Blackmagic announced the “Blackmagic URSA Live Encoder,” a live processor module that compresses live immersive video to Apple ProRes and outputs it as SMPTE-2110-22 IP video. This allows for the integration of stereo high-frame-rate image streams into a single 100G Ethernet connection. These products will be exhibited at the Blackmagic Design booth (#N2502) at NAB 2026.
Blackmagic Design URSA Cine Immersive 100G Features
High-definition images thanks to dual 8K sensors and a wide dynamic range.
The Blackmagic Design URSA Cine Immersive 100G features a highly innovative sensor designed to deliver 8K x 8K resolution for each eye. The dual-sensor layout, utilizing RGBW sensors based on the same design philosophy as the URSA Cine, supports large photo sites and achieves a 16-stop dynamic range.
The unique RGBW architecture, with its equal number of red, green, and blue pixels, enables precise color supersampling. This allows for rich color expression even at the high frame rates required for live immersive video, optimizing the system for high image quality and flexibility.
Building a live streaming environment with Blackmagic URSA Live Encoder
By using the Blackmagic URSA Live Encoder, the URSA Cine Immersive 100G can be deployed in live production. By encoding live video to ProRes and outputting it as SMPTE-2110 IP video via a high-speed 100G Ethernet port, a new live viewing experience can be provided.
Because the camera’s data rate is kept below 50 Gb/s, two cameras can be integrated into a single 100 G Ethernet connection. This high network performance enables an efficient live streaming workflow.

The URSA Cine Immersive 100G has a proven track record, having been used in the “Spectrum Front Row” series, which live-streamed Los Angeles Lakers games in Apple Immersive during the 2025-26 season. It is now available for on-demand viewing through Spectrum SportsNet for Apple Vision Pro and the NBA app.
Furthermore, the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive series for on-demand video has been used in many high-profile projects. These include MotoGP, the Tour de France, Debut at the BBC Proms, as well as documentaries about Real Madrid and the launch of NASA’s Artemis II spacecraft.
