Panasonic will release the “LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT 12-35mm/F2.8 ASPH./POWER OIS” which is a renewal of the “VARIO 12-35mm F2.8 II” as a LEICA DG lens on February 16, 2022. The suggested retail price is 115,500 yen including tax.
The LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT F12-35mm is the 14th lens in the LEICA DG series, and is a large-aperture standard large 3-lens lens that is compact and lightweight yet has high imaging performance and can be used in a variety of scenes. The LEICA DG lens covers the needs for a “compact, lightweight, large aperture through-the-lens zoom” unique to MFT. It is an F2.8 continuous zoom that fills the gap between the F1.7 series and the F2.8-4 series.
By using 2 special lenses (UED/UHR) and 4 aspherical lenses, it achieves high performance while realizing the compact size and light weight unique to MFT. By improving the lens mechanism, ghost and flare are suppressed, realizing better rendering. In addition, by changing the lens material to a highly transparent one, it renders more natural colors.
lens configuration
The combination of dustproof/splashproof/low temperature resistance and lightweight 306g boasts high mobility. High video performance such as breathing suppression, aperture microstep control, and Dual IS2 enables workflow reduction. The focus stroke has been revised to shorten the shortest shooting distance. Evolved to be able to get close to 0.15m on the W end side. In addition, along with the shortening of the shortest shooting distance, the specifications have been improved to a maximum shooting magnification of 0.21x at the focal length of 17mm.
