Panasonic announced the upcoming release of the AK-UBX100, a box-style 4K multi-purpose camera compatible with a 2/3 bayonet lens mount, in the third quarter of fiscal year 2025. It is based on the same platform as the AK-UCX100 4K studio camera released last year. The new Panasonic AK-UBX100 will be equipped with the world’s first built-in autofocus function for a 4K studio camera/system camera.
The AK-UCX100 will also be equipped with AF functionality, with a corresponding firmware update (FWUP) scheduled for December 2025.

Panasonic AK-UBX100 Features
Uses the same platform as the AK-UCX100 4K studio camera, expanding user expression.
The newly developed AK-UBX100 multi-purpose camera comes equipped with the same platform as the AK-UCX100 4K studio camera, broadening the scope of user expression. This box-style camera uses the same menu screen as the AK-UCX100, eliminating the previously cumbersome task of color matching and unifying operability between devices. Furthermore, by utilizing a common remote operation panel (ROP), it is easy to link with the 4K studio camera AK-UCX100 and the 4K remote camera AW-UE160, which is expected to improve operational efficiency on set.

The AK-UBX100 supports a variety of IP protocols, including SMPTE ST 2110, NDI, and SRT, and is equipped with two 12G-SDI and two SFP+/28 interfaces. In addition to basic moire prevention features, the addition of an HD optical low-pass filter reduces moire, enabling high expressive power even on its own. The AK-UBX100’s AF function is scheduled to be supported in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026.
Design is improved from the previous AK-UB300, adopting a four-sided flat design. The compact and lightweight body weighing approximately 1.9 kg improves the ease of mounting on robot cameras and makes it suitable for a variety of shooting environments. This increases the flexibility of combinations with lenses and heads, and is expected to improve handling on site.
The world’s first with AF function (FWUP)
The world’s first AF function is installed with FWUP. This enables quick and stable approach to the target, regardless of the type of lens used or the operator’s level of skill. By using it in conjunction with the existing focus assist function, it can be used in an even wider range of situations. This AF function allows for step-by-step adjustment of the position, size, and speed of the target area. Even experienced operators can smoothly transition to final manual adjustments thanks to the instantaneous AF support provided by the One Push AF function, achieving precise focus on the angle of view.
Prior to the AK-UBX100, this AF function will be supported on the AK-UCX100 in a firmware update scheduled for December 2025 (*2).
For the AK-UCX100 4K studio camera , in addition to the AF function, the following functions are scheduled to be added in the FWUP in December 2025.
- Added Low Skew Mode function
- Video TRUNK functionality expansion (supports 12G-SDI output from the TRUNK IN connector)
- Added F-drop and automatic correction of peripheral light falloff
- Added remote back focus adjustment function
This unit debuted at IBC2025 (International Broadcasting Convention 2025), held in Amsterdam, Netherlands from September 12th to 15th, 2025.
