Panasonic has announced the release the mirrorless single-lens camera “S5 II” (to be released on February 16, 2023), “S5 IIx” (to be released around June 2023), and the interchangeable lens for digital single-lens cameras “S-R1428” (to be released on March 16, 2023. According to the company, pre-orders for the three products have greatly exceeded expectations, and some customers who have already pre-ordered may not be able to receive the products on the release date. In addition, customers who book in the future may face longer delays to receive their cameras.

The S5 II series has revamped the engine and sensor, which are the key devices of the camera. The new Venus engine has about twice the computing performance and about four times the buffer memory compared to the conventional model S5. The newly developed 24.2M image sensor supports LUMIX’s first image plane phase detection AF. With 779 AF points covering almost the entire area of ​​the image sensor, the distance to the subject can be calculated with high speed and accuracy, enabling continuous capture of dynamically moving subjects.
