Canon will release the firmware update of the “Canon EOS R5 C” from June 22, 2023. A total of 14 firmware updates are planned for the EOS R5 C.
Video/Photo switching time shortened
The time it takes to switch from Video to Photo modes has been shortened by about 70%, and switching from Photo to Video by about 40%.
Improved autofocus performance
The tracking frame becomes variable. By understanding the size of the subject and using the distance measurement results of areas with contrast, the accuracy of focusing is increased.
Head detection is possible without face detection. As a result, it is possible to detect and track subjects whose faces are difficult to detect, such as people facing backwards, helmets, and sunglasses.
Added power saving mode
With a default setting of 4K60p, the shooting time is increased by about 30% (4096 x 2160, 59.94p, 810Mbps, LP-E6NH, RF50mm F1.2 L USM). However, there are restrictions that cannot be used for RAW, 8K MP4, 4K XF-AVC (Intra) Slow & Fast, LCD/VF brightness, HDR assist, USB/network communication with external devices, and power supply from the camera to accessories.
