Roland Corporation’s “Roland Cloud” and the Bridge Cast mixer platform provides high-quality plug-in sound sources and services for music production. Within Roland Cloud, a new service, called BGM Cast, was started. Roland’s BGM Cast provides copyright-free BGM and sound effects that can be used for livestreaming.

Roland BGM CAST is a service that automatically selects and continuously plays copyright-free BGM in “Roland Cloud” according to the “mood” selected by the user. This new service eliminates TOS issues that crop up with copyrighted music.

The combination of the Bridge Cast mixer and BGM Cast allows for streamlined background audio in livestreaming.

In recent years, in addition to the high performance of smartphones, the appearance of various social media platforms has made it possible for anyone to easily post videos and livestream. Even after the stay-at-home period after 2020, this trend continues to be popular. In addition, many methods of earning revenue from video or streaming content, such as subscriptions, creator support sites, tipping systems, etc. have appeared, and the market scale called “creator economy” is expected to expand further in the future.

In such an environment, “copyright-free BGM and sound effects” are strongly requested by creators who perform live streaming and video production. Many platforms terms of service have strict rules related to copyrighted music, such as Twitch and YouTube. Quite a few creators have had their accounts terminated on account of improperly-played music.

Providing “BGM CAST”

With the Bridge Cast audio mixer combined with Roland Cloud, it is now possible to set up background music that is royalty free. This directly addresses the previous TOS problems.

By registering for Roland Cloud from the Bridge Cast App, the new “BGM CAST” service can make available thousands of songs and hundreds of sound effects. Free members of Roland Account can use 36 BGM songs and 16 kinds of sound effects.

With “BGM CAST”, users can select from six types of “mood,” such as “EXCITING” and “COOL,” and a song that matches the atmosphere of the content will be automatically selected and played from a wide range of BGM. The BGM uses high-quality material from the world’s largest music data set “MusicTGA-HR” provided by “Amadeus Code,” which develops music generation AI.

In addition, a wide variety of sound effects, from standard sounds such as air horns to unique sounds such as “TR-808”, “D-50”, and “ZENOLOGY,” are available.

An update to the “BRIDGE CAST” system program (Ver. 1.06) and an update to the “BRIDGE CAST” dedicated app (Ver. 2.00) is required. As of July 18, 2023, “BGM CAST” can only be used with the “BRIDGE CAST” dedicated app, but other company products are planning to support “BGM CAST” in the future.
