Canon will release the Canon RF-S10-18mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM, the first ultra-wide-angle zoom lens in the RF-S range, in December 2023. This a new RF-S lens for APS-C size cameras. It will be released at the beginning of the month. The planned sales price at Canon Online Shop is roughly $375 including tax.
This lens covers an area equivalent to approximately 16-29mm in 35mm format. This format it possible to take pictures that cannot be taken with standard zoom lenses. In addition to still image shooting such as dynamic landscape photos, this lens takes advantage of the wide angle of view for video shooting, such as Vlogging.
The compact and lightweight design takes advantage of electronic distortion aberration correction on the camera side. That side provides excellent portability with a weight of approximately 150g. Also, the lens length is approximately 44.9mm, when stored. The lens configuration is 12 elements in 10 groups. This includes two UD lenses and one plastic molded aspherical lens. Furthermore, the effective placement of the UD lens corrects chromatic aberration throughout the entire zoom range, achieving high image quality across the entire screen. Fitting with the Canon APS-C line, this lens is versatile and compact.
