AJA Video Systems announced that ColorBox and RED Cinema Camera series have been certified for compatibility, making them the first certified color management and color conversion solutions.
To receive this certification, a company must pass rigorous certification tests to ensure compatibility with the entire RED product line.
Since its introduction last fall, AJA ColorBox has proven to be a highly capable color management and conversion solution in any production environment.
For television production, whether live broadcast or recording, ColorBox’s RED COMPATIBLE CERTIFICATION LEVEL ensures compatibility with a wide range of RED cameras.
Additionally, users can capture footage from any compatible camera and color-correct footage on the fly. Specifically, the AJA Color Pipeline uses RED’s provided lookup tables (LUTs), or the Colorfront license of AJA ColorBox processes the RED Log3G10.
When combined with third-party hardware control panels from companies such as SKAARHOJ and Cyanview, operators can intuitively control both modes, just like they would with a broadcast camera.
The AJA Colorbox is a compact, high performance color converter for color managed workflows designed to specifically meet the conversion needs of broadcast, live events, and on-set applications.
For professional film production, ColorBox’s RED-CERTIFICATION allows efficient HDR/SDR grading by seamlessly operating RED cameras and ColorBox on set.
Nick Rashby, president of AJA Video Systems, commented:
The AJA ColorBox is the first product for video processing to be RED certified. This is a valuable certification for color workflows built on RED technology. The collaboration with the RED team on this certification was very productive. We look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.
