ARRI has announced the ARRI TRINITY Live, the first generation of TRINITY stabilizers, optimized for broadcasting. ARRI TRINITY Live, Master Grip TRINITY, and 24V Upgrades are now available for order.
Integration with ARRI multicams
ARRI TRINITY Live is not a standalone product. Instead, it is an upgrade option for ARRI’s flagship product, the ARRI TRINITY Gen.1. This is the first generation of body-mounted camera stabilizers. The upgrade kit, consisting of new hardware, wiring and connections, optimizes the stabilizer for live production and improves functionality within ARRI multicam systems and third-party broadcast applications.
At the NAB Show 2023 in Las Vegas, ARRI announced the CCP Live and Tally System Gen.2, a camera control panel that expands the broadcast capabilities of existing ARRI cameras and stabilizers. The new TRINITY Live complements both of these products and provides an ideal way to seamlessly integrate ARRI cameras into live, multi-camera broadcast environments.
ARRI TRINITY Live Weight Balancing
With TRINITY Live, the wireless video link required for broadcasting operations can be attached to the bottom of the stabilizer instead of being attached to the camera as usual. By placing a wireless video link, like the Vislink system, at the bottom of the center post, it can be used as a counterweight when balancing the rig. This results in weight savings of up to 4kg. The antenna also rotates at a smaller radius than when attached to the camera and has less height variation, making the wireless signal more stable in its new position.
Improved Connectivity
The main feature of the TRINITY Live upgrade is improved connectivity, with four new 4G video lines and a 10Gbit shielded Ethernet line providing new wireless video link positions. The new video line connector requires an entirely new center post, post connections, top stage junction box, and wiring cover, all of which are included in the upgrade kit.
TRINITY Live has a total of five 4G video lines. The four new lines provide up to four quad link signals (4x3G) to the wireless video link, or two video lines to the wireless video link if dual SDI (2x6G) is required. The fifth video line functions as a playback line, allowing operators to view footage sent wirelessly from the broadcast van to TRINITY Live on a second monitor. Additionally, an additional internal 10Gbit Ethernet line enables full camera control and communication on the OB van.
Kurt Schaller, Product Manager for ARRI Camera Stabilizer Systems commented:
At ARRI, we care about maximizing your return on investment. That’s why we’re pleased to announce that the TRINITY Live upgrade extends the lifespan and functionality of TRINITY Gen.1.
For operators who do not yet own a TRINITY Gen.1 but are looking to expand into broadcast applications with TRINITY Live, the best place to purchase a used rig is through the ARRI Certified Pre-Owned Program. If you find it elsewhere, just bring it to your local ARRI Service Center and we’ll do all the checks to make sure your equipment is in good condition for an upgrade before you buy it.
ARRI TRINITY Live Upgrades
TRINITY Live also offers two additional TRINITY upgrade options for specific use cases. The ARRI Master Grip TRINITY Upgrade allows operators to simultaneously control the zoom lens and stabilizer tilt axis via the LBUS controller.
TRINITY Live’s 24V upgrade allows operators to take advantage of the system’s reliable 24V camera power when using the ALEXA Mini LF, ALEXA 35, or Sony VENICE.
Please note that even if the TRINITY Gen.1 rig was previously upgraded to 24V, users will need to install this new 24V upgrade as part of the TRINITY Live conversion.
