NANLUX has announced the NANLUX FL-28, a lightweight and compact NL mount Fresnel lens for Evoke series LED spotlights. The lens was designed in collaboration with leading gaffers and DPs to provide a high-performance Fresnel solution that is easy to transport and rig. It is intended for use by small crews who require a lightweight solution, or by gaffers working in trucks with limited space.
The NANLUX FL-28 weighs only 3.86 kg (excluding barn door), making it 60% smaller than the conventional NANLUX FL-35YK (FL-35YK) Fresnel lens. When used in conjunction with the Evoke 1200B LED spotlight, it provides a high light output of 50,330 lux (5600K, 17° coverage angle) at 3m. When using the Evoke 900C, the NANLUX FL-28 has an output of 38,580 lux (5600K, 17° beam angle) at 3m.
The NANLUX FL-28 uses the NANLUX NL mount system. The mounting system is encoded so that the attached Evoke fixture “knows” exactly what the Evoke is doing and sets the lights accordingly. Primarily designed for the Evoke 1200, Evoke 1200B, and Evoke 900C, the FL-28 can also be used with the latest Evoke 2400B spotlight, but due to the higher output of the FL-28, it safely limits the output by approximately 50% when installed It shows 25,610 lux at 3m (5600K, illumination angle 17°). NANLUX will soon release a new Fresnel lens specifically for the Evoke 2400B.
The FL-28’s beam angle can be adjusted from 17° to 43°, making it ideal for a wide range of applications. The existing FL-35YK Fresnel lens also uses a glass lens to provide a tight spot of 11° and a wide flood range of 45° for users who require greater coverage angle adjustment. The Evoke 900C with FL-35YK has an output of 15,460 lux at 3m (5600K, 30° beam angle), and the Evoke 900C with FL-28 has an output of 14,990 lux at 3m (5600K, 30° beam angle).
The FL-28 comes with a rotating barn door and carrying case.
