NANLITE has announced the new generation of its advanced professional panel lights, the Alien series. The NANLITE Alien 150C and 300C feature a compact yet rugged design, advanced color mixing system, improved low-end dimming, IP55-rated heads, multiple power options, and efficient cooling technology.

Alien lights are lighting solutions for a wide range of applications. Whether it’s an outdoor location in the pouring rain, an indoor live streaming shoot, or a smaller set where more flexibility is needed, the Alien 150C and Alien 300C are reliable tools to help users achieve the results they want.

Lighter, lighter

Taking into consideration the requirements of flexibility, portability and weight, Nanlite team designed the Alien 150C and 300C with separate lamp head and control unit. The Alien 150C lamp head weighs 3.6kg and the Alien 300C weighs 6.6kg, respectively, which is 13% and 45% lighter than the competing products on the market, allowing the Alien lights to be easily mounted on boom arms or lightweight stands.

　 　　

The Alien 150C has a lighting area of ​​24.6×18cm, while the Alien 300C has a lighting area of ​​36×24.8cm. Combined with the included pop-up softbox, they create the perfect soft light while still maintaining a compact size.

Precision Optics, Illuminating Excellence

The Alien series uses superior light mixing technology and an advanced optical design that alternates and rotates WW and RGB light beads, which combine to produce a very bright and uniform beam. The combination of advanced optics and power gives the Alien series a powerful output. At 5600K, the measurements at 1m reach 13,050 lux (Alien 150C) and 28,630 lux (Alien 300C), respectively. Nanlite’s superior RGBWW color mixing system ensures excellent light quality and allows users to light the scene with a variety of colors. The Alien series features Nanlite’s new generation user interface, which aims to provide creators with an unparalleled experience. By incorporating intuitive icons and minimizing text information, the new interface is clearly understandable at a glance. The redesigned menu layout improves operation logic, allowing users to quickly find desired functions and easily adjust parameters.

Responding to user demand for quick access to specific lighting settings, the Alien series features a preset function that allows users to quickly save and recall parameters, allowing users to save a lot of time on parameter settings and spend more time on production.

IP55 rated panel + control unit rain cover = complete protection

To meet all weather conditions and on-site uncertainties, the Alien Series features an IP55-rated metal lamphead and a specially designed rain cover for the control unit. Fine Tuning – Multiple Choices

The Alien Series features three different dimming methods: users can choose between 0.1% increments for precise light control across the entire range, 1% increments for quick adjustments, or 0.1% increments for specialized brightness below 10%, ensuring both smooth adjustments at low intensity and quick adjustments above 10% brightness.

With hardware upgrades and software enhancements, the Alien series achieves superior linear dimming, and even at the lowest brightness level of 0.0% to 1.0%, the dimming is smooth, easily simulating the fade-up process of traditional light sources.

The Alien series incorporates 7 DMX dimming curves and 15 DMX modes to meet stringent control requirements for complex dimming speeds and lighting setups.

Designed for quiet operation

When designing the Alien 150C and 300C, Nanlite engineers prioritized quiet LED operation and efficient heat dissipation. To achieve this, the back of the lamphead is fully covered by an aluminum alloy heat sink, reinforced by powerful airflow from dual fans. This improved heat dissipation further reduces the size and weight of the cooling system, resulting in a smaller and lighter light.

The Alien series features 5 fan modes (Smart, Full Speed, Slow, Pause, Off) to meet different shooting and audio recording needs. In Smart mode, the average volume is 19dB(A).

Plus, when complete silence is needed, the newly added Pause mode allows you to temporarily turn off the fan while still allowing the lamp head to run at 100% brightness.

Versatile power options

To handle complex and ever-changing conditions on location, the Alien series is equipped with reliable and versatile power options. Not only can it be connected to an AC/DC power source for continuous power, but it also has the option to use 14.4V-14.8V or 26V-28V batteries for remote operation. The Alien 150C only requires one V-mount battery as a power source, while the Alien 300C supports the mixed use of V-mount batteries of different voltages.

Both the Alien 150C and Alien 300C support hot swapping between different power options, allowing you to seamlessly switch between power supply methods without interrupting production.

　 　　

Detailed design in pursuit of efficiency

The included quick release clamp allows you to quickly and securely mount the control unit to a light stand or truss.

Both the AC power cable and the DC connection cable are equipped with self-locking connectors to ensure a secure and quick connection.

The included pop-up softbox is easy to install. All you have to do is attach the softbox’s rubber band to the shoulder bolt on the back of the lamp head. After use, simply lay the softbox flat and secure it by threading the two rubber bands through the shoulder bolts for storage.

　 　　

You can also purchase an optional barn door. It can be easily attached by simply screwing four bolts into the screw holes in the lamp head. The four leaves can be swung to flexibly shape the light.
