LUMIX release the LUMIX S 20mm F2.5 “S-S20” interchangeable lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras and the L-mount system in late October 2026 (*). It will be available in two colors, black and silver. This release comes after the previous LUMIX S lens release announcement. Read that announcement in this hyperlink.
The new LUMIX S 20mm F2.5 is an ultra-wide-angle prime lens, allowing you to capture subjects with a dynamic angle of view, making it ideal for snapshots and landscape photography. Its bright f/2.5 aperture enables you to minimize subject blur in low-light scenes. Furthermore, when shooting close to the subject (minimum focusing distance of 0.18m (*1)), you can enjoy creating expressions that highlight the subject’s presence while utilizing soft background blur.
Lightweight Design
In addition to its compact and lightweight design, the lens shares the same overall length and filter diameter as the S-R1840 (when retracted) and S-S40 lenses, making it easy to handle when changing lenses and allowing for filter sharing. The lens body comes in two colors, black and silver, allowing for coordinated styling with your camera body.
Furthermore, the LUMIX S 20mm F2.5 features a dustproof and splashproof design (*2) and low-temperature resistance down to -10°C. This allows the lens to withstand unexpected bad weather. Additionally, the front element of the lens is coated with fluorine, making it easy to remove dirt from the lens surface. It also meets the needs of video shooting by suppressing the breathing phenomenon and supporting aperture micro-step control, allowing for high-quality video expression.
Panasonic states that this product will create a new market for single-lens reflex cameras by providing enhanced image quality and mobility for camera enthusiasts and professionals in their shooting situations.
