Thypoch announced release the Simera-C series of cinema lenses. The Simera-C lens series is a compact Sony E-Mount T/1.5 cine lens weighing approximately 400g. The lens originally debuted at IBC 2024.
The Simera-C lens shares the same optical formula as the existing Simera photo lenses, so it inherits the same image quality and character, but the number of blades has been increased from 14 in Simera photo to 16 to achieve a more circular bokeh.
Thypoch Simera-C Main features
- With four focal lengths ranging from 28mm to 75mm, you can tell a variety of stories.
- A consistent high-speed aperture of T1.5 and 16 iris blades produce beautiful, round bokeh.
- Compact and lightweight at 390-470g. Ideal for car-mounted, handheld, and gimbal shooting.
- Compatible with mirrorless cameras and cinema cameras like the DJI Ronin 4D.
- Less chromatic aberration and higher resolution.
- Dual focus scale with metric and imperial units.
- It is compatible with the aluminum hard case for a set of four lenses. It is small enough to fit in a cabin case and can be carried around with the included shoulder strap.
Focal lengths
Ranging from 28mm, 35mm, 50mm to 75mm (21mm will be added in the future), the Simera-C full-frame lenses are suited to most shooting situations. With a 16-blade iris and a uniform fast aperture of T1.5, the lenses create spatial visual impact and enhance the immersiveness of images.
The Simera-C lens is made up of aspherical, ED and high refractive index lenses, which allows for high resolution and control of chromatic aberration, making it ideal for 8K high resolution video production. In addition, it is multi-coated with a high refractive index to minimize the occurrence of flare and ghosting. Even in strong backlit conditions, the Simera-C lens provides high contrast and an overall clean image.
Simera-C lenses are fully compatible with Sony Alpha mirrorless cameras, Sony FX cine cameras, RED, DJI Ronin 4D, and ARRI cinema cameras.
“Combining the compact Simera-C lenses with an autofocus system like the DJI Focus Pro streamlines equipment handling, reduces crew fatigue and increases filming flexibility. When mounted on the DJI Ronin 4D Flex system and Sony Venice Rialto Extension system, Simera-C lenses can easily capture challenging angles such as low shots, over-the-shoulder perspectives and tight car interiors. This setup not only expands the cinematic expression, but also increases agility, maneuverability and creative scope.”
Thypoch Simera-C lenses share a 210° focus throw and the same gear position design, which means no rebalancing is required when changing lenses or accessories. This feature reduces rebalancing time and increases shooting efficiency, especially when using gimbals or sliders.
