Leica Camera announced the release of a unique, special limited edition set, the Leica M Edition 70, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Leica M system. The camera will be available in Leica Stores from early 2025, with only 250 units available worldwide.
The set includes the Leica MA camera body, the Leica APO-Summicron-M f2/50mm ASPH. 50mm lens, the Leicavit M high-speed winder, and a film container (with film). It is a celebration of the history of the Leica M series, and a gem that connects the future of analog photography.
The Leica MA combines the iconic design of the Leica M3, a highly acclaimed masterpiece, with the unique technology of the Leica M system, fusing a highly precise mechanism with an old-fashioned elegance. The combination of timeless and excellent design, craftsmanship backed by history, and luxurious and special platinum-coated finish makes this a special limited edition set that will be coveted not only by photography enthusiasts who know the real thing, but also by discerning collectors.
A book commemorating the 70th anniversary, “LEICA M”, also released.
The anniversary book, “LEICA M,” will also be released to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the birth of the Leica M system. This book introduces the history of the M-type Leica over 250 pages and includes insightful essays, historical masterpieces, treasured archival materials, as well as an overview of the successive M-type Leicas. The complex and multi-layered process of the development of the Leica M system over more than 70 years is explained from various perspectives, making it a book worthy of the 70th anniversary.
Dr. Andreas Kaufmann, CEO and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Leica Camera AG, commented:
“This book is also intended to convey great gratitude to all those who use the Leica M system and all those who are involved with it, including photographers, employees, users, and friends – the ‘Leica family.'”
The “LEICA M” book will be available in November 2024 at Leica stores, the Leica online store, the LFI (Leica Photography International) online store, and at some authorized Leica dealers.
