What is the ZEISS Supreme Zoom Radiance
The ZEISS Supreme Zoom Radiance is a large-format cine zoom series that features the same “T*blue” coating as the existing SupremePrimeRadiance (hereinafter referred to as SPR), soft focus and warm color tones, and comes in three focal lengths: 15-30mm, 28-80mm, and 70-200mm, all with a uniform maximum aperture of T2.9. The SZR achieves high resolution through advanced optical design, while also matching seamlessly with vintage lenses such as the K35 and ZEISS First, which are popular these days, and is excellent for image expression that richly expresses emotions and feelings.
Like the SPR, the ZEISS Supreme Zoom Radiance depiction is characterized by a softness in the center of focus and a slightly warm color tone. Even without a filter, it can spin beautiful and impressive images. Also, like the SPR, when backlight hits the lens optical axis, a blue flare appears that adds an accent to the image. Unlike the flare of typical vintage lenses, the flare created by the T*blue coating does not reduce the contrast or resolution of the screen, and the image does not break down. The size of the arc of the flare changes three-dimensionally when zooming, which can be used as a method of image production that has never been seen before.
Other Features
Equipped with a highly durable, high-precision focus mechanism following the SP/SPR and a newly developed zoom mechanism. The focus ring switches between feet and meters with about 5 minutes of work.
Additionally, eXtendedData (lens info like iris and zoom setting) is output via electronic contacts. That info works to contribute to the efficiency of VFX work, which is essential for high-end works.
The diameter of the front frame is 114mm for all three lenses. Additionally, the housing is designed to be used in conjunction with the SP and SPR. The aperture and zoom rings of the SZR are in the same positions as those of the SP/SPR. PL mount is standard, but it can be converted to an LPL mount as an option.
