LIGHT LENS LAB releases the interchangeable lens “M 28mm f/2.8”

Focus Studio Co., Ltd. has released the LIGHT LENS LAB interchangeable lens “M 28mm f/2.8”. The selling price on the Focus Studio online store is 149,400 yen (tax included) for the silver version and 158,400 yen (tax included) for the black paint version.

The LIGHT LENS LAB M 28mm f/2.8 (nicknamed Zhou Jiupi) is a reproduction of the Leica “28mm F2.8 1st” that was released around 1965. The original was produced in small numbers, making it an extremely rare model in the series, and is a lens that is highly valued among collectors for its imaging performance and unique appearance.

While following the original 6-group, 9-element lens configuration and MTF, the lens uses a glass material with properties similar to fluorite. While reproducing the original image quality, the lens is said to have slightly improved sharpness and contrast, especially at the edges of the screen when used with a digital camera.

In addition, by changing the original slightly triangular bokeh to a gentle elliptical shape, it is said that a more natural bokeh that meets modern needs can be enjoyed. The front lens has a high curvature, and the rear lens is positioned farther away from the image sensor to improve color cast on the periphery.

It also reproduces the compact yet beautiful unique appearance, including the red distance indicator that is popular among enthusiasts, the tapered lens barrel design, and the clip-on square lens hood. The focusing lever and infinity lock that clicks into place, which are features of the original, provide a comfortable feel when using it.
