Sigma will release the “12mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary” wide-angle lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras on September 4, 2025. The lens will be available for Sony E, Fujifilm X, and Canon RF mounts.
This lens is an ultra-wide-angle prime lens with a focal length of 12mm (equivalent to 18mm in 35mm format) as an F1.4 lens for APS-C. Thanks to the latest optical design, it exhibits high resolution even at the maximum aperture, allowing you to capture vast landscapes and starry skies in detail to the corners of the screen.
The effective placement of three double-sided aspherical lenses and two SLD glass elements effectively corrects sagittal coma flare and other effects, making it suitable for starry sky photography, which requires high image quality.

Despite being a large-aperture ultra-wide-angle lens, it has been designed to be compact and lightweight, measuring just 69.4mm in length and weighing just 225g. Taking advantage of the mobility of an APS-C camera, it allows for easy shooting in a variety of situations, including travel, outdoors, and street photography.

The autofocus drive uses a stepping motor to achieve high-speed, high-precision autofocus. Focus breathing is also suppressed, making it suitable for video shooting.
The lens also comes equipped with an aperture ring, it allows for intuitive operation. Additionally, for Canon RF mount cameras, it can also be used as a control ring to customize its functions.
The lens barrel is dustproof and weatherproof. In addition, the front of the lens comes coated with a water-repellent and dirt-resistant coating, allowing for safe use even in harsh outdoor environments.
Sigma’s Contemporary line already includes 16mm, 23mm, 30mm, and 56mm F1.4 prime lenses, and the addition of this lens will further expand the range of options available.
