LAOWA announced the 180mm F4.5 1.5x Ultra Macro APO lens. This lens is the LAOWA brand’s first telemacro lens, ideal for telephoto, macro, and portrait photography. It combines a variety of features, including a 1.5x ultra macro, an advanced apochromatic (APO) design, and an incredibly compact and lightweight design. With an autofocus mechanism on select mounts, it will be a convenient and versatile photography tool for professionals and amateurs alike.

1.5x Ultra Macro Magnification
With a maximum magnification of 1.5x (1.5:1), it captures textures and patterns in stunning high resolution. It’s ideal for macro photography of small subjects like insects and flowers. With a minimum focusing distance of 30cm and a minimum working distance of 14.7cm when focusing manually, it allows for incredibly sharp close-up shots while still providing ample space.
Ample working distance
The 180mm focal length ensures a minimum working distance of 147.6mm. This allows for more freedom in lighting and composition than macro lenses with shorter focal lengths, such as 58mm or 100mm. It also reduces the risk of spooking small creatures and causing them to escape. The 180mm focal length creates a natural compression effect, making the background appear closer to the subject, allowing for impressive compositions.

Focus mode switching function (Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon EF mount)
For Sony E, Nikon Z, and Canon EF mounts, autofocus (AF) is supported from 1.5m to infinity. You can switch between AF mode and manual focus (MF) mode by operating the focus ring.
Durable and robust lens barrel
The inner focus system keeps the overall length constant, preventing loss of balance and dust from getting in. It also features a dedicated function button, a φ62mm filter thread, electronic contacts for recording EXIF data, and a Type-C port for firmware updates.
