Cosina announced the release of the ZEISS full-frame mirrorless mount interchangeable lens, “Otus 1.4/35” in April 2026. Cosina handles ZEISS products as a brand under the company’s name.
ZEISS Otus ML lenses are a series of new optical designs inspired by the legendary Otus series of SLR lenses, known as best-in-class manual prime lenses, bringing ZEISS’s outstanding optical performance to mirrorless cameras with Sony E-mount, Nikon Z-mount, and Canon RF-mount.
The ultimate in precision engineering and mechanical design delivers exceptional sharpness, vibrant colors and the unique ZEISS three-dimensional imaging power to reveal every detail, allowing you to capture the moment exactly as you see it, feel it and imagine it.
What is the ZEISS Otus ML 1.4/35 ?
The Otus ML 1.4/35, the third in the series following the Otus ML 1.4/50 and 1.4/85, is a large-aperture, semi-wide-angle lens with unparalleled optical quality.

This lens offers an angle of view that allows you to capture a scene wide while highlighting the subject, and offers full manual control over focus, depth, and detail. Its aspherical design suppresses distortion, and its anomalous partial dispersion glass suppresses chromatic aberration. ZEISS T coating suppresses unwanted reflections within the lens, minimizing lens flare and enhancing image contrast and color fidelity. With an F-stop of 1.4, it’s well-suited for challenging low-light conditions, and its 10-blade aperture produces soft, harmonious bokeh.
The Otus ML 1.4/35’s full-metal mechanism boasts outstanding quality thanks to first-class craftsmanship. The precisely designed mechanism provides a unique physical sensation of becoming one with the equipment through the act of manual focusing. The knurled focus ring on the metal exterior allows for silky operation from infinity to the minimum focusing distance of 0.3m, enabling precise focusing.
Controllable aperture ring
The aperture ring adjusts in 1/3-stop clicks (1-stop for F11-16), and a switchable de-click mechanism allows for stepless aperture adjustment. The lens mount comes equipped with a blue silicone seal, and each moving part has a special internal sealing treatment that protects it from dust and water droplets. This ensures enduring reliability even under harsh conditions.
The lens construction consists of 15 elements in 11 groups, including two aspherical lenses and seven anomalous partial dispersion glass elements, embodying the ultimate in optical quality.
The optical system works for Sony E-mount, Nikon Z-mount, and Canon RF-mount. Additionally, this lens comes equipped with electronic contacts that comply with each mount standard. This allows for EXIF info recording.
Each mount comes with a metal petal-shaped lens shade (reverse mountable) and a cushioned pouch for storing lenses with the ZEISS logo.
