Harlowe announced the debut of their Pocket Flash series of pocket-sized 2-in-1 lights.
The Pocket Flash series is a compact light that combines a flash for still photography and a continuous LED light into a single unit. Its most distinctive feature is the built-in aluminum “Z-Lift stand.” By raising the light to a position higher than the lens axis, it reduces unwanted lens shadows and creates lighting that gives subjects a sense of depth and dimension. The angle of the flash head can also be adjusted, allowing for precise control over the direction and spread of the light.
Harlowe Pocket Flash Use Cases
For still photography, it can be used as a flash with a guide number of 12, and the output can be adjusted in 7 steps. When shooting video, checking focus, or checking composition, it can be used as a bicolor LED constant light source compatible with 2700K to 6500K. In addition, it is equipped with a 4W boost mode that can temporarily double the light output, making it suitable for shooting in dark places.
In terms of accessories, it employs Harlowe’s unique magnetic modifier system. The included “Magnetic Dome Diffuser” makes it easier to create soft light for portraits and table photography. It is also compatible with color gels, expanding the range of color expression. The “Creator Kit” includes a Material Blade Creative Reflector that creates textured light patterns.
Operationally, in addition to hot shoe mounting, it supports self-standing installation using the built-in Z-Lift. It attaches to tripods, arms, and light stands using a 1/4-inch screw. The light combines easily with mirrorless cameras and compact cameras. It’s intended for a wide range of uses such as travel, street photography, product photography, and vlogging.
The controls feature a simple design with a dial, a dedicated mode button, and a high-visibility display. Flash output, color temperature, and brightness can be quickly adjusted without connecting to an app. The unit weighs approximately 125g. The charge supports approximately 700 flashes at full power and up to 35,000 flashes at minimum power. It is available in two colors: Classic Color and Midnight Color.
