Sigma Corporation announced the release of the “Sigma 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS | Contemporary” telephoto zoom lens for APS-C on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
Sigma 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS | Contemporary Lens Details
The Sigma 50-120mm F2.8 DC OS | Contemporary is an APS-C telephoto zoom lens that maintains a constant f/2.8 aperture throughout its zoom range. It covers a field of view equivalent to approximately 75-180mm in 35mm format, and approximately 80-192mm for Canon RF mount.
While maintaining a bright f/2.8 aperture, this lens achieves a compact and lightweight design for Sony E-mount, with a maximum diameter of φ66.8mm, a length of 99.0mm, and a weight of 390g. Designed with portability in mind, it is intended for use in a wide range of shooting scenarios, including portraits, snapshots, and travel.
Equipped with an optical image stabilization mechanism (OS), this lens achieves a correction effect of 6.5 stops at the wide-angle end and 4.5 stops at the telephoto end. The AF drive employs HLA (High-response Linear Actuator), enabling fast and highly accurate focusing. Furthermore, the design suppresses focus breathing, making it easy to use during video recording.
It also boasts impressive close-up shooting capabilities, achieving a minimum focusing distance of 23cm and a maximum magnification of 1:3 at the wide-angle end. This allows for close-up photography, not just telephoto shots.
The lens comes compatible with three mounts: Sony E-mount, Fujifilm X-mount, and Canon RF-mount. When combined with Sigma’s APS-C F2.8 zoom lenses, the “10-18mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary” and “18-50mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary,” it covers a wide range from ultra-wide-angle to telephoto with three lenses that all have an F2.8 aperture. Another notable feature is that the total weight of the three lenses can be kept under 1kg.
