Sigma announced the Z-Mount “Sigma 16-300mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS | Contemporary” high-magnification zoom lens. Designed for APS-C sensors, this lens achieves a zoom ratio of approximately 18.8x.
Covering a focal length range of 16-300mm, this lens corresponds to an angle of view of approximately 24-450mm in 35mm format on Nikon’s APS-C format. Because it allows you to shoot from wide-angle to super-telephoto with a single lens, it’s expected to be useful in shooting situations where you want to minimize lens changes, such as travel, street photography, sports, and bird photography.
Close-Up Capability
One of its key features is its close-up shooting capability, achieving a minimum focusing distance of 17cm at the wide end and a maximum magnification of 1:2 at a focal length of 70mm. In addition to its versatility as a high-magnification zoom lens, it also supports close-up shooting of subjects.
Equipped with an optical image stabilization (OS) mechanism, this new lens reduces blur during handheld shooting. For Nikon Z mount, the AF drive and communication control optimizes, working well with matching the mount. Additionally, this lens supports AF-C and in-body aberration correction of compatible cameras.
The lens construction consists of 20 elements in 14 groups, including one FLD glass element, four SLD glass elements, and four aspherical lenses. The maximum diameter x length for the Nikon Z mount is φ73.8mm x 125.4mm, and the weight is 630g.
*The approximately 18.8x zoom ratio is a world first for an interchangeable lens for AF-enabled mirrorless cameras (as of September 2026, according to Sigma).
*Product appearance and specifications are subject to change.
