AstrHori announced the 8mm F2.4 CIRCULAR FISHEYE, a new circular fisheye lens for medium format mirrorless cameras, on October 16, 2026.
This product is a manual focus (MF) prime lens compatible with Fujifilm G mount and Hasselblad X mount. It features a 220° angle of view, surpassing typical 180° fisheye lenses, and boasts a bright f/2.4 aperture and a minimum focusing distance of 0.1m.
AstrHori 8mm F2.4 Product Overview
The “AstrHori 8mm F2.4 CIRCULAR FISHEYE” is a circular fisheye lens with a maximum angle of view of 220°, allowing it to record a circular image encompassing the area from in front of the camera to the sides and even a portion of the area behind it. It achieves a unique perspective that differs from typical wide-angle lenses, and enables compositions that take advantage of the wide shooting range.

The optical system employs a 10-element, 8-group configuration, including two high-refractive-index lenses and two ED lenses. With a bright f/2.4 aperture, it’s suitable for daytime landscape and architectural photography, as well as low-light environments such as nightscapes and astrophotography.
Furthermore, with a minimum focusing distance of 0.1m, it’s possible to capture a wide surrounding space while getting close to the subject. In addition to landscape, architectural, and interior photography, it allows for expressive shots that take advantage of the unique characteristics of a circular fisheye lens in close-ups and portraits.

Main Features
A circular fisheye lens with a field of view exceeding 180°, reaching 220°.
The AstrHori 8mm F2.4 achieves a 220° field of view, surpassing that of typical 180° fisheye lenses. A wide area from the front of the camera to the sides and even a portion of the back can be captured as a single circular image.
Because it can capture a range that cannot be photographed with a regular wide-angle lens, it can record landscapes, buildings, and starry skies with the unique perspective of a circular fisheye lens.

Medium format compatible, with an aperture of f/2.4 and an optical design of 10 elements in 8 groups.
Compatible with Fujifilm G mount and Hasselblad X mount. The optical system consists of 10 elements in 8 groups, including two high-refractive-index lenses and two ED lenses, aiming for a wide angle of view while suppressing chromatic aberration.
The aperture range is F2.4 to F16, and it employs a 10-blade aperture. The bright F2.4 aperture allows for a wider range of shutter speed and ISO sensitivity options even in low-light environments such as nightscapes and astrophotography.

Close-up photography with a minimum focusing distance of 0.1m
The minimum focusing distance is 0.1m. By getting close to the subject, you can capture a large foreground while simultaneously including the surrounding wide space.
In addition to close-up photography of plants and small objects, it can also be used to create compositions that emphasize the unique perspective of a fisheye lens when photographing people at close range.

Metal lens barrel and manual focus operation
The lens barrel is made of metal with a matte black finish, accented with orange markings.
The focus ring has a shape that is easy to grip, and the aperture ring has a click stop. This is designed for a shooting style where you meticulously adjust the composition while manually adjusting the focus and aperture.

*The 35mm equivalent focal length is the manufacturer’s stated value. Because circular fisheye lenses use a different projection method than typical wide-angle lenses, the angle of view and image quality will differ even with the same equivalent focal length.
*Depending on the camera model, you may need to enable “Release without lens” before shooting. The setting method and item names may vary depending on the model.
*Due to the characteristics of the image sensor, color cast, false colors, blurring, and reduced resolution may occur in the peripheral areas of the image. The manufacturer states that these phenomena may occur depending on the product specifications.
