Sony has released a software update for the following cameras: the Sony α9III and Sony α1. It is available for free download from the company’s website. The update contents are as follows:
Sony α9III Ver. 2.00
Addition of shooting and playback functions
- Connect the camera to a computer via wired LAN and turn the camera’s power on/off remotely.
- After shooting, still images can be automatically created from video frames with shot marks
- Supports shutter speeds up to 1/80000 seconds with aperture value of F1.8 or higher when shooting in all drive modes and with noise reduction
- Supports relay playback between media
- Updates a synchronized release function that releases the shutters of multiple sub cameras in sync with the shutter timing of the main camera
- Supports displaying the focus frame on the Remote Camera Tool screen when the monitor and viewfinder are turned off.
- The maximum number of images that can be stored in one folder has been increased to 9,999.
- Supports display of Wi-Fi signal strength
- Supports C2PA format (date of license availability is yet to be determined)
- Changed to allow any custom grid lines to be displayed
Addition of FTP transfer and network functions
- Supports uploading camera images directly to Creators’ Cloud
- Supports automatic FTP transfer scheduling for protected videos and still images
- Improves automatic protection of videos/still images transferred via FTP
- When transferring via FTP, it is now possible to transfer specified images with priority.
- Added SFTP to secure protocols

- Improved the issue where operation occasionally becomes unstable during continuous shooting.
- Fixed an issue where the color of a captured JPEG image may change when cropping it in the camera.
