Recap Day 2 – Cinematic Lenses for All Movie Sets at Inter BEE 2024
Lensmakers this year had a strong focus on utility this year. In particular, many of the makers lenses have varied focal lengths for their primes but the length of the lens and weight remained roughly the same. Others focused on making their lenses as multi-purpose as possible. Nikon and Fujifilm debuted broadcasting lenses for their native systems. LAOWA announced so many lenses it would be impossible to list them all here. So why don’t we go over a few of the lensmakers at Inter BEE 2024 in this recap?
DZOFILM
Have a read of our previously published DZOFILM booth review here. Their ARLES PRIME, announced this year, is their big display for Inter BEE 2024 but for this recap, I also asked them to demonstrate their Pavo Anamorphic. Both sets of lenses have incredible power and utility, but for good prices.
LAOWA
LAOWA announced this month quite a few new lenses, all of which were on display at their booth. The LAOWA rep wanted to emphasize that they want to be known as a high end cine lens maker, not just for their vaunted probe lenses. Additionally, the AF lenses (a first for LAOWA), announced earlier this year, were also on display. A full article about all of the LAOWA lenses on display will come soon!
IRIX
IRIX, a company with roots in Switzerland, production in Korea, and offices in Poland, showcased their lineup of lenses at Inter BEE 2024. As stated earlier, the focus of these lenses was utility for the videographer. The control rings are positioned in the same spot throughout the lineup, the weights are within 10% of each other, and all have the same lens filter radius. They also showcase their lineup of magnetic filters. We will cover IRIX in an upcoming article!
Canon
Canon didn’t have much in the way of lenses to show beside the RF 28-70mm, along with the SUMIRE PRIME showcased at the Cine Lens Bar. More details on the Cine Lens Bar is below.
FUJIFILM
Fujifilm showcased primarily their new Duvo series of broadcast lenses, including the 25-1000 boxand the Duvo Portable line. A touch and try featuring GFX lenses was also apart of the booth.
Nikon
Mentioned yesterday, the 28-135mm Power Zoom Lens was on prominent display.
The operation of this lens is quite satisfying. Control it from the center control reel, from the side T/W switch, or from your remote. It works for all full-frame Z cameras, including the Nikon Zf. It’s primed for use as a filming or broadcasting lens.
SIRUI
The SIRUI booth at Inter BEE 2024 had a variety of lenses. Let’s take a look here:
This is the f/1.2 SNIPER line.
The T1.8 1.33x Anamorphic 40mm for full frame cameras.
The 5 piece JUPITER lineup of cinematic lenses. Absolutely stunning construction.
Kenko Tokina
Kenko Professional Imaging showcased Tokina and Meyer Optik Gorlitz lenses at their booth.
The Vista P T1.5 from Kenko Tokina were absolutely gorgeous, and also featured standardized construction. Tokina Cinema Zoom lenses were also on display for guests. The new 100mm T2.9 that was announced at IBC 2024 is a popular lens with guests.
Most of the Meyer Optik Gorlitz lens lineup was in a cabinet at the Kenko Tokina booth.
Cine Lens Bar at INTER BEE 2024
One feature at Inter BEE this year was the Inter BEE Cinematic Experience. Here, quite a few makers had a showcase where you can touch and try in a cinematic setting.
SIGMA
SIGMA brought out their FF High Speed Prime Lens. Again, these lenses, while having different focal lengths, had the same utility as other makers which allows for easy focal length changes without resetting focus pullers. SIGMA also showcased their high speed zoom lens series.
NISI
Nisi brought out their Athena Prime Lenses. Back in April, the 18mm, 40mm, and 135mm focal lengths were added to their lineup. They also had a carrying case where the other focal lengths are visible.
Iron Glass Adapters
Iron Glass Adapters showcased their Rehoused Soviet Mk II series of lenses. The build quality of these lenses is phenomenal. Their prototype 20mm, number 000000, was astounding to see in person.
Additionally, an internal red color lens was showcased with a Sony Burano. The flare was beautiful! Have a look.
Day 3 – The Rest of the Show
There is SO much to cover at Inter BEE 2024 and we will do everything we can to touch on some of the booths and companies that don’t fall into the lens maker or camera maker category. Tomorrow’s recap will cover these companies, along with a personal message from our web editor, Zach. Thank you for joining our tour as well! We hope you enjoyed the trip to Inter BEE. See you tomorrow!
