Think about this year’s power words such as Super 35, Cloud, and PTZ

Let’s take a look back on 2022 at the 13th PRONEWS AWARD this year. The Kyushu Broadcasting Equipment Exhibition and the Kansai Broadcasting Equipment Exhibition have been revived for the first time in three years. The Korean film industry is slowly regaining its vitality. This year, there were many times when the COVID-19 situation was calm, and events and exhibitions were gradually revived. It was also impressive that many people gathered at these events, and it was refreshing to see many smiling faces after a long absence.

InterBEE 2022, the core exhibition event of the domestic Japanese video industry, was held online and in person at Makuhari Messe this year as well. The number of registered visitors was 26,901, exceeding last year’s 18,308 by 1.4 times. It’s far from the scale of InterBEE 2019’s International Exhibition Halls 1-8 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, but it was bustling with more exhibitors than last year. Next year’s event will be even more exciting.

There will be no shortage of topics for the film industry in 2022. From last year to this year, it is also impressive that companies have released cameras compatible with “Super 35” regulations, such as ARRI ALEXA 35 and Sony FX30, for example. PTZ cameras, which had been used as surveillance cameras until now, are now being used in areas such as distribution, and are finally being introduced to cinema sites. It may be that the existence of the camera itself is about to change significantly. Furthermore, it can be said that the “cloud”, which was a power word at “NAB Show 2022”, has become more familiar when looking at the solutions of each company, especially when it comes to data storage capabilities expanding on the cloud.

At the InterBEE exhibition event, the number of cloud solutions introducing services on screens and panels has definitely increased compared to last year, and along with that, the number of first-time exhibitors has also increased. In addition, the wave of AI and IT in the video industry, such as camera focusing and framing, was very much tangible.

PRONEWS Award 2022 reveals trends in the video industry

The PRONEWS AWARD is an award that selects the technologies, products, services, etc. that have had the greatest impact on the industry from among the products that have greatly boosted the video industry in 2022, from the unique perspective of PRONEWS. The editorial department examines, selects, and awards from the perspectives of technology, marketability, and future potential. What kind of year will 2022 be for the film industry? For this edition of “PRONEWS AWARD,” let’s look back at 2022 and summarize in the PRONEWS style.

For this year’s nominees, we have a total of seven categories: “Camera”, “Lens”, “Microphone/Headset”, “Lighting”, “Accessory”, “Post-Production”, and “Video Production/Distribution.” Eligible products are all products and services launched between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022.

PRONEWS AWARDdescription image

The top-ranked products in each of these seven categories are listed, and the Gold and Silver Awards are announced one by one. And we would like to look back on all the video fields from all the categories again and select the PRONEWS AWARD Grand Prize at the end of the year with PRONEWS’s own judgment and prejudice. Please understand in advance that PRONEWS will make the selection at its own discretion.

We would like everyone to take a break at the end of the year and imagine each division while thinking about 2022, when many things have happened. We plan to release each award in turn.

    • Vol.01: “Camera Division” From Mirrorless to Cinema “Camera Division”
    • Vol.02: “Lens Department” the cornerstone of filming
    • Vol.03: “Mic/Headset Category” to improve the perfection of videos with sound
