Sony at InterBEE 2023 – Main exhibition contents
“Networked Live” Show
The latest solutions in live production will be showcased. Sony has pivoted toward a varied number of products and services. As such, many of these will be exhibited during the “Networked Live” portion.
The media edge processor “NXL-ME80,” renown for its efficiency, will be showcased. Also, the live production switcher “MLS-X1,” and the media orchestration platform “VideoIPath,” will be exhibited for the first time in Japan.
“CBK-RPU7” (first exhibition in Japan)
The CBK-RPU7 is Sony’s proprietary 5G codec chip that enables high-quality video to be transmitted with high compression and low latency.
By attaching the CBK-RPU7 to a camera and connecting it to a 5G communication terminal via USB tethering, high-quality video signals up to 4K60p can be transmitted smoothly. Since it is possible to transmit wirelessly high-definition video with a speed that approaches that of wired transmission, the degree of freedom in shooting positions and angles increases, making live broadcasting more flexible.
At their booth, Sony will exhibit a comparison of the image quality of images transmitted by “CBK-RPU7.”
Software switcher “M2L-X” (first exhibition in Japan)
The M2L-X is a switcher that can be embedded in either on-premises or cloud environments. This switcher efficiently supportd ICP-X panels and can be used for more advanced production. This comes with the addition of the cloud based M2 LIVE switcher.
At the venue, we will be exhibiting on-premises/cloud hybrid operation in combination with the live production switcher “MLS-X1.”
“Creators’ Cloud”
The latest production workflow for video production that utilizes the cloud production platform “Creators’ Cloud” that enables efficient content production, sharing. Creators’ Cloud also allows cloud distribution, and scenarios such as news and sports program production, and content management. Various aspects of Creators’ Cloud will be showcased as such:
Updates in various services
The latest version V1.2 of cloud switcher “M2 Live” compatible with IOS recording and instant slow replay. The new version is also capable for use with the new “BURANO” and Cinema Line “FX3” and “FX30” compatible with SRT format. A number of updates, including the latest version of the cloud camera portal “C3 Portal,” will also be explained.
In addition, the AI video analysis service “A2 Production Customized Solution” will exhibit a solution that supports the promotion of DX in video production with a wide range of services that support sports video highlight generation and editing work.
New Cameras Being Exhibited
In addition to the Cinema Line series including CineAlta, Sony will exhibit a rich lineup of imaging products, including cameras and lenses such as system cameras, professional monitors, and the α series of digital single-lens cameras.
CineAlta camera “BURANO”
“BURANO” is a new product from CineAlta cameras, the top line of digital cinema cameras. Equipped with an 8.6K 35mm full-frame image sensor, it combines the high-quality image expression cultivated with “VENICE,” which is widely used in Hollywood studios, and high mobility due to its small size and lightweight. This camera has the first built-in optical image stabilization mechanism for a PL mount camera. The Burano also has an electronic variable ND filter that was previously difficult to install at the same time. These are built into a compact housing, making it easy to use with a small crew. The camera is designed to bridge the run-and-gun gap with the high-studio end line.
“ILX-LR1” (first exhibition in Japan)
A full-size professional drone-mountable camera with interchangeable lenses. This camera combines high resolution with approximately 61 effective megapixels and is compact and lightweight.
In addition to being used for inspection, surveying, and mapping using drones, it also streamlines the photography workflow in fields such as photogrammetry.
At InterBEE 2023, Sony will hold a demonstration of controlling multiple ILX-LR1 units from a PC using the Camera Remote SDK software development kit.
PTZ auto-framing function and PTZ camera (first exhibition in Japan)
The AI presentation support system Edge Analytics Appliance “REA-C1000” now supports “PTZ autoframing” function with the latest firmware Ver. 5.0.
As a result, even with existing PTZ cameras lacking such a function, cameras combined with the REA-C1000 accurately capture the subject and automatically frames the subject. As a result, these shots create a more natural composition. It also is now possible to take pictures with this new upgrade to the firmware.
At the Sony booth, there will be a demonstration of the “PTZ autoframing” function. This can be used in more advanced video production applications when combined with the “BRC-X1000” remote camera .
