Sony released the device update firmware Ver.2.0 for the CineAlta camera, “BURANO.” It is available for download from the company’s device firmware download page.

Adding Imager Scan Mode
The following imager scan modes have been added:
- FFc 3.8K 16:9 (Maximum frame rate 120fps)
- S35 4.3K 4:3 (max frame rate 60fps)
- S35 1.9K 16:9 (max frame rate 240fps)
* When the frame rate is set to 240 fps in S&Q Motion, SDI and HDMI output is not possible.
Added 1.8x de-squeeze display function
- You can now select a 1.8x de-squeeze factor.
Added frame rate for S&Q Motion
When shooting in S&Q Motion, you can now choose from 66, 72, 75, 88, 90, 96 and 110 fps.
Added recording format (X-OCN 16:9 24P)
- When the system frequency is set to 24, X-OCN and 16:9 can now be selected as the recording format.
Improved external output
- When recording in XAVC, the camera status and settings can now be displayed on the SDI output. In addition, an output format (Monitor FHD) that is the same as when recording in X-OCN has been added.
- Improved the display layout of camera status and settings for external output video.
- Now supports 23.98PsF in SDI output format.
- TC and Clip Name have been added to the metadata of SDI output when recording X-OCN.
- Improved image quality of external output when Base Look Input is set to S-log3.
Added Active/High image stabilization mode
- Even when the Imager Scan Mode is FFc 6K, you can now set PL Stabilization to High and SteadyShot to Active.
Other improvements
- A function has been added that allows you to check whether the high-brightness areas (High Key) are overexposed and whether the low-brightness areas (Low Key) can be distinguished (High/Low Key).
- White Select now allows you to set the white balance memory position (D/E/F/G/H).
- Added a gamma display assist function that displays the LCD monitor at 709 equivalent when Base Look is set to S-log3 in Cine EI mode.
- Added breathing compensation and image stabilization information to metadata when recording X-OCN.
- Added 709tone as a Base Look setting.
- Improved image quality when using user 3D LUT files.
- Iris control, zoom control, and focus control are now supported on the PL lens interface. Iris control is only supported from the remote control panel. In addition, the 24V power supply method can now be set with PL-Mt Voltage.
- Improved autofocus performance when the system frequency is set to 29.97, 25, 24, or 23.98.
- Proxy recording is now possible even when 24 is selected as the system frequency.
- Changed the factory system frequency to 23.98.
- By executing Reset to Factory Defaults in the Maintenance menu, you can now reset not only the settings but also file data stored in the internal memory, such as passwords and user 3D LUTs.
- Supports variable ND filter mode from a remote control panel.
- On the Status screen, you can now do the following:
- Imager Temperature Display
- Initializing the memory card
- Camera ID and Reel Number settings
- Improved operability from the “Monitor & Control” app.
- Now supports tally control from devices connected via LAN.
