NAB Day 3: Trends and Purpose-settings…PTZ Cameras, especially.

What’s beyond the concepts of “efficiency” and “labor-saving?”

On the third day, the opinions of the participants were full of diversity. If you listen carefully, you can hear various impressions of the event, such as “This year’s NAB is interesting” or “It’s not good.” There are things that can be seen by stepping into the field and experiencing it. This time, I would like to introduce the trends that I could feel while walking around the venue.

Turn around and see PTZ Cameras. Applications that start there:

PTZ Cameras are often discussed as a trend on PRONEWS. However, at NAB 2023, we saw an unusually large number of PTZ cameras. PTZ cameras from various fields, including original camera manufacturers such as Sony, Canon, Panasonic, and JVC, are also participating. Needless to say, PTZ cameras are booming due to various needs such as video production, distribution demand, entertainment, remote control, and surveillance.

It is also interesting that each user has a different purpose and method. In fact, among the cameras so far, efficiency and labor saving may be the biggest. The definition of PTZ, however, is broad. At this year’s NAB 2023, it’s interesting to see the PTZ camera pushed to the front.

Canon exhibits CR-N700 and auto-tracking application

Canon exhibited an “auto-tracking” application that supports the “add-on applications system” that expands the camera functions of the CR-N700. Regarding the “CR-N500” and “CR-N300,” a firmware update compatible with the add-on applications system will be released in early August 2023.

The unassuming camera work will be indistinguishable to viewers. In fact, many of the public recordings that were held at various venues also showed that the cameras were PTZ. You can definitely look smart.

Extended application system allows users to install applications directly on the camera and run them from the camera. Inside the booth, two different cameras were displayed with different angles of view to demonstrate how accurate and excellent the image quality is.

Panasonic AW-UR100 with strong stabilizer function

The AW-UR100 camera is equipped with three types of image stabilization: optical image stabilization (OIS), electronic ROLL compensation (EIS), and pan-tilt image stabilization (DISS: Dynamic Image Stabilizing System). A demonstration showcasing how the camera stood up to violent shaking proved this camera’s capabilities. I thought that strong winds and vibrations outside affecting the camera would be effectively suppressed.

BirdDog is a fast-growing company driven by demand from the distribution side. The popular “P240” has three outputs, NDI, SDI, and HDMI, as well as UVC connection options for online meetings such as Zoom and Teams. IP video transmission can transmit two IP streams at the same time, such as full NDI and SRT, full NDI and NDI HX3.
