Expoimaging’s “ExpoDisc V3 Professional White Balance Filter” will be available in 77mm and 82mm versions from August 10, 2023. The suggested price for each product is as follows.
- ExpoDisc V3 77mm: $49.95
- ExpoDisc V3 82mm: $49.95
The ExpoDisc V3 has developed a new combination of diffusing materials for wide spectrum calibration and can now be tested from 300nm to 2200nm. The third version of this successful filter has an optimal performance from 380nm to 1600nm, showing even better light transmission.
The delta is only 0.9% in the visible spectrum from 380nm to 700nm and only 1.8% from 380nm to 1600nm. This means this filter can also be used for IR photography.
New slim design with bayonet mount step ring, new ExpoDisc V3 design is thinner than ExpoDisc 2.0. As such, the ExpoDisc V3 can be comfortably mounted on lenses of 82mm or smaller, and can be quickly attached and detached using the included ExpoDisc V3 bayonet mount step ring. Each ExpoDisc comes with one bayonet mount step ring size.
ExpoDisc can also be used to measure exposure. Version 3 has been updated with 14% light transmission to match the ANSI standard for photographic exposure meters. This brings an f/stop improvement by about 1/3 to 1/2 when measuring digital camera exposure using ExpoDisc.
ExpoDisc can also be used to check for dust on the camera sensor or create dust maps for use in image editing software.
Each ExpoDisc is calibrated individually, to keep them neutral. Only a truly neutral white balance tool like ExpoDisc can produce consistently accurate color balance within an image. All ExpoDiscs are assembled in the USA and calibrated using custom filters to transmit light uniformly across the visible spectrum.
Smaller and easier to use than gray cards and targets, the ExpoDisc fits in your shirt pocket and allows photographers to set a custom white balance by simply covering the lens. This is usually much easier and quicker to obtain than placing a gray card or target in the scene and reading the reflections from a distance.
