Nextorage has announced that it is developing a CFexpress Type B memory card compatible with CFexpress 4.0, the new CFexpress standard, with the aim of commercializing it in early 2024.
CFexpress 4.0, announced by the CompactFlash Association (CFA) on August 28, 2023, increases card interface speed from the previous PCI Express (PCIe) 3.0 to PCIe while ensuring backward compatibility with CFexpress 2.0. Standard speeded up to 4.0.
Specification | Maximum transfer rate theoretical value |
CFexpress 2.0 | 2GB/S |
CFexpress 4.0 | 4GB/S |
The CFexpress 4.0 memory card contributes to high-speed backup of captured data when shooting 8K videos and high-pixel still images, which have been in increasing demand in recent years.
Nextorage is also developing a content creation workflow product to demonstrate the performance of the CFexpress Type B memory card compatible with CFexpress 4.0, aiming for commercialization in 2024. Details of each product are scheduled to be revealed at Inter BEE, which will be held from November 15, 2023, in Japan.
