Canon announced the upcoming release of the EOS R6 Mark III, a full-frame mirrorless camera equipped with high-performance still photography and comprehensive video recording functions, on November 21, 2025. The camera will meet the needs of a wide range of advanced amateur users, from those who primarily use still images to those who require high performance for both still images and video.
The EOS R6 Mark III is a full-frame mirrorless camera that delivers high image quality with a full-frame CMOS sensor that has an effective pixel count of up to approximately 32.5 million pixels, an increase over the EOS R6 Mark II (released in December 2022), as well as excellent drive and AF performance. In addition to its excellent still image shooting performance, the camera is also equipped with a full range of video functions, including 4K video recording with oversampling and 7K open gate recording, pursuing ease of use in both still image and video shooting scenes.
Canon EOS R6 Mark III Main Features
Approximately 32.5 megapixels of high image quality enable a wide range of expression from portraits to landscapes
The full-size CMOS sensor combines high resolution of approximately 32.5 megapixels with high sensitivity (maximum standard ISO 64000 when shooting still images) and is equipped with a 5-axis in-body image stabilization mechanism, which, through cooperative control with an RF lens equipped with an in-lens optical image stabilization mechanism, provides image stabilization effects of up to 8.5 stops in the center and up to 7.5 stops in the periphery.
Excellent drive and AF performance to capture decisive moments
When shooting with the mechanical shutter/electronic front curtain, the camera offers high-speed continuous shooting performance of up to approximately 12 frames per second with AF/AE tracking, and when shooting with the electronic shutter, it offers up to approximately 40 frames per second with AF/AE tracking. The number of continuous shots that can be taken has been improved from the EOS R6 Mark II, and the camera maintains high drive performance.
It also supports “Pre-Continuous Shooting,” which allows continuous shooting up to 20 frames (approximately 0.5 seconds) prior to pressing the shutter button. Furthermore, the “Dual Pixel CMOS AF II” technology delivers excellent AF performance, providing highly accurate and stable focus and tracking even during high-speed continuous shooting.

A variety of video recording functions to enhance your expressive power
It supports 4K video recording with oversampling and 4K120P high frame rate recording at the full horizontal angle of view, which allows recording without cropping the width of the sensor. Furthermore, it is equipped with a 7K open gate recording function that uses the entire sensor to record at a 3:2 aspect ratio, which is a wider angle of view than the normal mode, and meets the diversifying needs of video production with video recording functions tailored to each application.
