Apple announced the new MacBook Air with M5 processor, bringing high performance and expanded AI capabilities to its beloved notebook. M5 features a faster CPU and next-generation GPU with Neural Accelerator per core, allowing MacBook Air to power a variety of workflows, from creative projects to complex AI tasks.
Pre-orders for the new MacBook Air will begin on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, with sales starting on Wednesday, March 11. Four finishes are available: Sky Blue, Midnight, Starlight, and Silver. Trade-ins through Apple Trade In and warranty options through AppleCare+ are also available.

MacBook Air with M5 Processor – Performance for AI and More
The M5 delivers high performance for everything from everyday productivity to creative workflows. MacBook Air with M5 features a 10-core CPU with fast CPU cores for even better responsiveness. Combined with a GPU with up to 10 cores and a powerful Neural Accelerator in each core, M5 models deliver AI task performance up to four times faster than M4 models and up to 9.5 times faster than M1 models. This makes it an extremely high-performance platform for AI, whether you’re using Apple Intelligence at home or running on-device LLM in the enterprise.

- The M5 features an advanced shader core and a third-generation ray tracing engine, providing significant power for tasks such as games and 3D rendering.
- The M5 also features unified memory that provides 153GB/s of bandwidth, a 28 percent increase over the M4, enabling smooth multitasking and fast app launches.
- These improvements result in the following performance improvements compared to the previous generation:
- AI video quality enhancement with Topaz Video is up to 6.9 times faster than devices equipped with M1 and up to 1.9 times faster than devices equipped with M4.
- 3D rendering using ray tracing in Blender is up to 6.5 times faster than on M1-equipped devices and up to 1.5 times faster than on M4-equipped devices.
- Image processing in Affinity is up to 2.7 times faster than on M1-equipped devices and up to 1.5 times faster than on M4-equipped devices.
Web browsing is up to 50 percent faster than on an Intel Core Ultra X7-powered Windows laptop.
Double the minimum storage capacity and faster SSDs
The M5-powered MacBook Air comes standard with 512GB of storage, double the previous generation, and now for the first time, up to 4TB, providing ample space for large projects and games. The new SSD delivers twice the read/write performance of the previous generation, accelerating file access and accelerating workflows for creators working with photo libraries and students running AI workloads.

High value for upgrade users
Now is the perfect time to upgrade from a previous generation Apple silicon model or an Intel-based Mac. In addition to the performance of the M5, it offers the following features:
Liquid Retina Display: 500 nits of brightness and 1 billion colors, delivering crisp, clear content.
Long-lasting battery life: With up to 18 hours of battery life and fast charging, you can work all day without worrying about power.
– Sleek design: The fanless design ensures quiet operation. The 13-inch model offers excellent portability, while the 15-inch model offers a large screen area.
Advanced camera and audio: A 12MP center-frame camera enhances video calls, while a three-microphone array and speakers with spatial audio deliver clear, immersive sound.
Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6: The newly designed N1 chip supports the latest standards, ensuring a more reliable connection.

Two models are available in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes, and four colors are available: sky blue, midnight, starlight, and silver.
