NAB2026

DPA Microphones added the “4097 CORE+ Micro Shotgun” to its CORE+ microphone lineup. This model is said to deliver a new level of clarity, headroom, and sonic transparency for speech, choral, film, and broadcast applications. The adoption of CORE+ technology significantly reduces distortion across the entire dynamic range of this gooseneck microphone, ensuring clear and crisp audio recording even in the most challenging acoustic environments. The upgraded microphone will be exhibited at NAB 2026 (booth number: C4428).
What is the DPA 4097 CORE+
Designed for conference and worship venues, as well as broadcasting and film production applications, the 4097 CORE+ is a versatile solution that builds upon the proven performance of the original 4097 while incorporating DPA’s most advanced microphone technology to date. CORE+ is a patent-pending innovation that eliminates the nonlinearity typically caused by microphone diaphragms and electronic components, resulting in a natural, distortion-free sound that is particularly important for speech amplification.
Helga Somava, Director of Product Management at DPA Microphones, commented as follows:
Somava: The 4097 has been a trusted choice for many years in applications where clarity and directionality are essential.
CORE+ Technology
The introduction of CORE+ technology has further improved reliability. The 4097 CORE+ captures sound with greater precision, reduces distortion, and improves headroom.
In addition to the CORE+ upgrade, the 4097 also features a redesigned look with a simplified foam shape, an attractive flocked finish, and an improved gooseneck. Furthermore, structural improvements have been made, including an improved shock mount that reduces external interference such as structural vibrations and vibrations transmitted through cables.
The 4097 CORE+ features a tight supercardioid polar pattern for superior off-axis rejection, minimizing ambient noise and feedback even in complex acoustic environments. CORE+ technology easily handles a wide range of volume levels, from faint speech to dynamic presentations and vocal performances, without compromising clarity or tonal balance.
The 4097 CORE+ inherits the practical and valuable features of its predecessor. Its lightweight and compact design allows for flexible placement and precise directional adjustment without being visually obtrusive. Its unobtrusive finish makes it ideal for applications where minimizing visual presence is necessary. When used in combination with the 4097 Interview Kit, it provides an ideal boom microphone solution for one-person film crews. When purchased as part of the upcoming choral microphone solution, the 4097 CORE+ comes with a pre-assembled microphone stand that folds easily into its storage compartment.
Like all CORE+ microphones, the 4097 CORE+ features DPA’s MicroLock connector, providing a robust and reliable connection optimized for professional live and permanent installations. The 4097’s MicroLock connector is rotatable and anti-reflective, further enhancing the solution’s design advantages. The 4097 is also backward compatible with equipment featuring MicroDot connectors, facilitating integration into existing infrastructure. Furthermore, it operates across a wide range of phantom power voltages to accommodate studio and location setups.
Mounting System
In addition to upgrading the 4097 to a model equipped with CORE+ technology, the company has also developed a completely redesigned mounting system that is engineered to provide a seamless and reliable user experience in an even wider range of applications. The new “Gooseneck Mount (G-MOUNT)” incorporates a two-stage locking mechanism, allowing for precise microphone positioning with just one hand, while significantly improving vibration damping and overall stability. This new mount is backward compatible with many existing DPA clips, ensuring a smooth transition for current users. Furthermore, some clips have been improved to enhance ease of use, adaptability, and acoustic performance.
