LEITZ CINE announced the expansion of compatibility for its HEKTOR series of mirrorless prime lenses for film and photography, introducing the interchangeable G mount. This will allow these lenses to be used with Fujifilm’s G mount, opening up new creative possibilities for users of Fujifilm’s ultra-large format cinema camera, the GFX Eterna 55, and its GFX100 series of mirrorless digital cameras.
Users can either purchase lenses with a GFX-capable G mount directly, or purchase a G mount as a separate part and perform the mount change themselves. Replacing the mount on LEITZ HEKTOR lenses is relatively easy and quick with minimal tools.
Other mount options for the HEKTOR series of lenses include Sony E-mount, Leica L-mount, Canon RF-mount, and Nikon Z-mount.
Rainer Hercher, CEO of LEITZ CINE, commented as follows:
“As formats and camera systems continue to evolve, we are happy to be working with so many manufacturers to ensure that the creatives using their cameras have access to some of the most exciting new lenses like the Leitz Hektor series,” commented Rainer Hercher, Managing Director of Leitz Cine.
HEKTOR Lenses Image Circle
While HEKTOR lenses were initially designed for full-frame compatibility, they actually form a much larger image circle. Although full-sensor open-gate mode isn’t available at all focal lengths, even the widest angles only require minimal cropping at the edges, supporting traditional cinema aspect ratios.
