Sigma 20-60mm F2.8-4 Main Features
- Achieving both a 20mm spread and high mobility.
- Stable optical performance across the entire zoom range.
- AF performance and reliability to support still image and video shooting
Expand compositional freedom with a 20-60mm len
This single lens covers a wide range of focal lengths, from 20mm which allows you to capture a broad space, to 60mm which makes it easy to capture subjects in a natural balance. It can handle a wide range of scenes, including landscapes, snapshots, and portraits, without the need to change lenses.
Furthermore, the lens achieves an open aperture of f/2.8 at the wide-angle end of 20mm. This allows for shooting in dark places such as indoors or at night with reduced ISO sensitivity, enabling creative expression that takes advantage of the depth of field unique to ultra-wide-angle lenses.
Bringing a 20mm start into everyday life
The lens weighs 385g for the L-mount version and 375g for the Sony E-mount version. Despite being a 3x zoom lens covering an ultra-wide 20mm to 60mm range, it features a compact and lightweight design. It is suitable for a wide range of shooting situations where portability is important, from everyday snapshots to travel, mountain climbing, and video production.
Stable optical performance across the entire zoom range.
Combining compact size, light weight, and high image quality.
The lens employs an optical design with 13 groups and 15 elements, including three aspherical lenses and three SLD glass elements. This design ensures stable sharpness across the entire zoom range while maintaining a compact and lightweight design.
High close-up shooting performance
The lens also prioritizes close-up shooting performance, achieving a minimum focusing distance of 15.8cm at 28mm. At 35mm, it boasts a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.3, approaching half-macro capabilities. Even at the telephoto end of 60mm, it maintains a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.9, supporting high close-up shooting performance across the entire zoom range.
Designed with consideration for flare and ghosting.
Regarding flare and ghosting, simulation technology was used to verify various incident light conditions. The design aims to suppress the occurrence of flare and ghosting in backlit situations and achieve clear image rendering.
AF performance and reliability supports still image and video shooting
High-speed and quiet autofocus using HLA (High-response Linear Actuator)
The AF actuator employs a linear motor HLA (High-response Linear Actuator). This enables high-speed autofocus with high-precision drive, and also provides excellent tracking performance even when shooting fast-moving subjects at high frame rates. The AF performance is designed for both still image and video recording.
Optical design that suppresses focus breathing
The lens design minimizes changes in the angle of view due to focusing, reducing changes in composition caused by focus shifts during video recording.
Features dustproof and splashproof structure and water-repellent and stain-resistant coating.
The Sigma 20-60mm F2.8-4 features a dustproof and splashproof design, and the front element of the lens is coated with a water-repellent and stain-resistant finish. It’s designed with outdoor shooting in mind.
*This device is designed to be dustproof and splashproof, but not waterproof. When using it near water, be careful not to expose it to large amounts of water. If water enters the device, it may cause malfunction.
