IBC2026

Avid and Google Cloud announced an expansion of their strategic partnership. This includes the introduction of a browser-based version of Avid’s flagship video editing platform, Media Composer, and an enhanced content data platform, Avid Content Core.
By directly integrating Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise and BigQuery into Avid’s post-production environment, along with media-specific AI agents and Avid’s tools, Avid reduces reliance on dedicated hardware and the burden of management. This allows editors and directors to collaborate from anywhere, automate iterative tasks, and dedicate more time to storytelling.
In today’s media production landscape, while content demand is increasing, the burden of management tasks is also growing. Editors spend a significant amount of time tagging footage, organizing timelines, and searching through fragmented archives. Furthermore, traditional professional editing required high-performance on-premise workstations, posing challenges in terms of speed and cost for global remote collaboration.
A survey conducted by Avid in the second quarter of 2026 among 120 professional editors shows how editors are using AI to solve post-production challenges.
The survey revealed that 79% use AI in their workflows, with speech recognition and transcription being the most common uses (60%). Furthermore, 87% believe AI is most valuable in more efficiently realizing creative intentions, and 76% believe that increasing time for storytelling is the best use of AI. On the other hand, 63% pointed out that seamless integration into existing professional environments is necessary to make AI tools more useful.
Building on the initiatives announced at the NAB Show in April 2026, the next phase of this partnership will involve directly integrating Gemini Enterprise with Media Composer and Content Core to streamline the creative process. By directly linking an intelligent, searchable media archive to a browser-based timeline, the partnership aims to streamline two time-consuming post-production steps: media discovery and timeline organization.
Four pillars of technological integration with Avid and Google Cloud
Browser-based Media Composer and agent-based editing
Media Composer is now available on Google Chrome, enabling professional timeline editing within Avid Content Core. Avid’s “Ready to Edit” agent-based AI features allow editors to use natural language prompts to synchronize media, transcribe and place dialogue, and organize project bins.
Furthermore, the embedded “Media Composer Gemini” panel allows users to generate B-rolls, search stock footage, and automatically add media information through tagging, logging, and translation using their existing Gemini account.
Semantic search in Content Core
Leveraging Google Cloud technology, the system automatically analyzes and adds information during media import. Avid Content Core and Gemini Enterprise automatically generate transcriptions and semantic-based descriptions, reducing manual logging time and making it easier to find necessary media through natural language search.
Newsroom to Timeline Connection Workflow
Content Core Insights leverages Gemini Enterprise and BigQuery to connect content creation data with performance data. The newsroom can plan stories and assign teams using Content Core Planning and Rundown.
Editors can use natural language search to pull relevant footage into the timeline and synchronize the final cut with the broadcast program. Broadcasters and studio managers can query in natural language about staffing, resource utilization, production costs, and content performance, gaining a comprehensive understanding of production status and content monetization.
Flexible and secure hybrid cloud deployment
Avid Content Core Site Engine directly connects the customer’s Google Cloud environment to Content Core. Media processing, production intelligence, and agent-based workflows are centrally managed, while computational processing and high-resolution assets remain within the customer’s own cloud environment.
Avid and Google Cloud demonstrated these end-to-end agent-based workflows at the Google Cloud and Avid exhibition spaces at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam.
