Blackmagic Design released a major update for the HyperDeck Extreme series, “HyperDeck 8.5”. It is available for download from the Blackmagic Design support page .
This version adds support for the internal M.2 SSD as network storage on HyperDeck Extreme 4K HDR and HyperDeck Extreme 8K HDR, allowing customers to use internal M.2 flash memory cards as record cache or as network storage that can be accessed from any computer on the network via the rear panel 10G Ethernet port.
In addition, this update now allows customers to record 4 separate inputs on the HyperDeck Extreme 8K HDR model. As long as all four 12G-SDI inputs are the same video standard, customers can record all 4 video inputs simultaneously. If they get out of sync, HyperDeck will automatically re-sync them. Each input can record any SD, HD or Ultra HD video format up to 2160 60P.
Media files for each recording channel are stored in separate recording folders, making it easy to manage media files. Metadata for each channel (such as camera number) can also be set individually with a swipe, which is important when doing replays.
Customers who record 4 channels to internal M.2 media cards and connect them to a DaVinci Resolve system as a media source now get a complete replay solution because DaVinci Resolve will recognize these media recordings and perform live replay, all in a 1/2 rack unit space on the HyperDeck Extreme 8K, eliminating the need for external networked storage.
