TEAC Corporation has released the latest firmware for TASCAM’s “Portacapture X6″ 6-track portable recorder. It can be downloaded for free from the company’s website. The latest update is version V1.10.
With this update, it supports 32-bit float USB audio interface function and wireless time code synchronization with compatible cameras via Atomos UltraSync Blue. In addition, the PODCAST app has added a USB mix-minus function, a preset save function for compressors and limiters, and a user setting function that saves the settings of the main unit and the recording app and recalls them with a single tap.
In addition to the conventional microSD card, the firmware can now be updated via the app “TASCAM Portacapture X6 Firmware Updater.”
USB audio interface function supports 32bit float
The USB audio interface function supports 32-bit float, and even when recording with DAW software, it is possible to record without setting the input level in detail. The “Portacapture X6” achieves a wide dynamic range that can reliably record everything from whispers to loud band sounds, achieving high-quality recordings.
Timecode sync via Atomos UltraSync Blue
By attaching the separately sold Bluetooth adapter “AK-BT1”, wireless timecode synchronization with compatible devices such as Atomos UltraSync Blue is possible. This makes it easier to synchronize the video of the camera and the audio of “Portacapture X6” when recording using multiple cameras and recorders, realizing more efficient editing flow.
USB mix-minus function that prevents sound wrap-around during remote recording of call apps, etc.
USB Mix Minus can now be turned on/off in the PODCAST app. When recording telephone interviews on the “Portacapture X6” main unit by connecting it to a computer or smartphone via USB, it is possible to prevent echoes from occurring in the other party’s conversation by preventing USB call audio from leaking around.
Save input settings and application settings for easy recall
You can save up to 3 input settings such as compressors and limiters and recall them with each recording app. In addition, it is now possible to save up to three main unit settings and recording app settings as user settings, which can be called up with one tap from the app launcher screen.
