Adobe released the After Effects update “25.3,” the June 2025 update. The 25.3 release brings new features, workflow improvements, and important fixes to After Effects.
After Effects June 2025 Update Features
Smooth Zoom
Smooth zoom provides precise and smooth magnification in Composition, Layer and Footage panels. Instead of being limited to fixed magnification percentages like 33%, 50% or 100%, customers can now zoom to any decimal value using hot text controls or the scroll wheel for smoother adjustments.
Smooth zoom magnification adjusts the zoom during preview.
To customize zoom behavior, go to Preferences > Preview > Magnification and set the zoom type, behavior, and trackpad scrolling. For enhanced zoom control, select “Smooth” in the Type setting.
The Preferences dialog box opens. In the Preview tab, in the Magnification section, the Smooth option for Type setting is highlighted.

Viewing projects in the file system
After Effects has a handy feature that allows users to instantly find their project files from within the application. With one click, it will open their computer’s file explorer and highlight the exact location of the currently open project file. This feature simplifies file management, reduces the time spent searching through folders and helps users stay organized, especially when working on multiple complex projects.
With a file displayed in the Project panel and the Reveal Project in Finder option selected, a context menu opens with multiple options.
