ZEISS will exhibit its new “ZEISS CinCraft Scenario” camera tracking system at SIGGRAPH 2023, which will be held in Los Angeles from August 8 to 10, 2023.
ZEISS CinCraft Scenario is based on the unique camera tracking technology of Ncam Technologies, which recently became part of the ZEISS Group. Mixing the Ncam AI with lens metadata of ZEISS, this becomes an easy-to-use and highly accurate tracking system.
A major feature of this new camera tracking system is that it can be used in any shooting environment, regardless of whether it is in-studio, outdoor location, green screen, or LED volume. This is because ZEISS CinCraft Scenario can recognize and track environmental objects such as art sets and buildings in addition to tracking with general reflective markers. This new system produces highly accurate tracking in correspondence with markers.
Tom Evans, Product Manager for ZEISS Camera Tracking Systems, commented:
We all know that camera tracking is very useful for previs and virtual production, and ZEISS CinCraft Scenario saves that tracking data, making a big contribution to streamlining post-production workflows later on.
Sundeep Reddy, Product Manager for Digital Cinema at ZEISS, commented:
We can extract metadata about lens rendering characteristics when paired with ZEISS and ARRI/ZEISS lenses, saving you the tedious steps and time associated with lens mapping and calibration.
ZEISS CinCraft Scenario is compatible with camera and lens encoder systems widely used in the filmmaking industry, enabling accurate tracking data output. The system consists of a combination of hardware and software. Each user can freely select the system configuration according to the type of data they require.
- CinCraft Cambar : send environment recognition data to CinCraft Origin
- CinCraft Link : Connect Cambar and Origin to access the UI from mobile devices such as smartphones
- CinCraft Origin : Calculates camera movement and position information required for camera tracking, exports data in industry standard format, and outputs to Unreal Engine
ZEISS is currently preparing a configurator that allows users to select the system configuration of ZEISS CinCraft Scenario by themselves and four pre-prepared bundle packs that can be purchased online and from special dealers by the fall of 2023.
